2.0 U-wings Can Work!

By chieftom22, in X-Wing Squad Lists

After seeing the Rebel Conversion Kit spoiled I have confidence. The squad list has a lot of presumptions though. Mainly, I have no idea what the point values or the slots on these cards will be. Also, I assume ALL the cards from Saw's Renegade's 1.0, will be available in a 2.0 version.

Cassian Andor - U-wing

Renegade Refit/ Stealth Device/ Pivot Wing/ Intimidation/ Tactical Scrambler/ Tactical Officer

Wedge Antilles - T-65

Renegade Refit/ Stealth Device/ S-Foils/ Predator/ *Astromech

Garven Dreis - T-65

Renegade Refit/ Stealth Device/ S-foils/ Predator/ *Astromech

The U-wing strategy is pretty simple, block. Intimidation, Tactical Scrambler, and 0 stop make it a pretty good obstacle, while the new coordinate action with Tact Officer makes the ship an awesome support. The X-wings are used as sort of glass cannons. I would think that Expertise would make them even stronger, but I haven't seen that in 2.0 yet. Elusive is an awesome defensive upgrade to replace Predator. ALso, I don't know how I feel about the astromechs revealed, just need to see them in action. Depending on points, you might be able to replace Garven with two naked Blue Squadron X-wings, which might be a better trade-off.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that we lack about 95% of the information necessary to know whether you're right or not.

I think U-Wings are cool, and I hope they are viable, but I have no idea if you're assumptions on cards are correct (they probably aren't), and I have no idea what their points cost is going to be, and about 100 other relevant variables that we can't possibly know yet. The chances of that theoretical list existing as posted, AND being right at 200 points, are fairly close to zero.
