Report: Cult of Sentinel Hill *Spoilers*

By Phoenix_FFG, in Mansions of Madness

This was one of the best games I've had so far. To cut a long story short, Joe Diamond had become Insane with For The Greater Good. Sister Mary had only just found the Dynamite and was still some spaces away. Joe's player talked with me (I run the games with the pad so when they have questions I answer them and remain impartial afterwards - I still play, but I'm essentially The Keeper) about how he could die within one round of the scenario being successfully finished (to avoid the Investigator Eliminated ending). So we left the table and devised a plan in private.

We'd never played this scenario before, so we had to take a guess that killing the Dunwich Horror would end the scenario. Joe would do his best to become Wounded by the Dunwich Horror, constantly telling Sister Mary to not use the dynamite until it was time for the final blow, and by also not getting out of the way Sister Mary would be more reluctant to use the Dynamite. The main plan: We needed to get the Dunwich Horror to 10 wounds or under, get Joe Diamond to Wounded, and hope that killing the Dunwich Horror with the Dynamite's damage of 10 with Joe Diamond in the blast would satisfy both requirements of the game.

Kate Winthrop moved any other monsters with her Flux Stabilizer. "Ashcan" Pete double-shot (2 actions of shooting, when possible) the Dunwich Horror with the Carbine Rifle. A few phases later, Joe Diamond became wounded in the same round as the Dunwich Horror came down to 8 wounds. "Ashcan" Pete moved away. In Joe Diamond's mind, the only way to finish this monster and save everybody was to go down in a blaze with it! Sister Mary, using her candle-lighting skills, ignited the fuse of the dynamite and hurled it at the beast. Joe Diamond and the Dunwich Horror were blown apart, the scenario ending with success and For the Greater Good satisfied.

It was an exciting and tense game! :)
