Fan Creations League Preview

By Avi_dreader, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Ummm... I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a way of reversing the order of Blogspot posts? So the most recent is viewed last and the oldest first?

You know, I wouldn't be upset if you just posted each new "scenario" separately in the fan Creation or League section League might work better, since there are fewer threads there for this to get lost among.

And, I for one am thankful you first posted it here, because I rarely check Fan Creations and League anymore.

I wanted to post it in the League section but I didn't for two reasons (I was afraid no one would ever look there, it's pretty dead, and I was a little anxious that someone at FFG might resent my butting into their League section with a League of my own).

Hello Avi,

I have been talking with my friend about doing this League. It sounds fun and we could certainly use the challenge. I commend you for taking the time and effort to put this together and run it. I really like the first scenario's story line. It's very thematic, especially the bit about the vampire in the street in front of the church....Loved That.

I would make a suggestion that you start a new thread or something where players can "report" results, stories, etc... when they finish each scenario. I will be taking notes as I play them, but my team will most likely be a few weeks behind in doing so for awhile as we only get together once a week, and this is the season when we do alot of extra stuff also, shows, conventions, etc...

I also like that there is no scoring in this league. The first league by FFG, when we played, we were so caught up in points that we did some things simply for more points and it killed alot of the "fun" and burnt us out on the game for almost a year. We are back into it now full swing though, so Keep Up The Good Work, My Friend!

That's a good idea— I'll put a story & comments thread in the Fan Creation page :') just so Dam won't be as annoyed at me ;'D

Heh... I hated the scoring. While I thought it was interesting (for like one round— just so I had some sense of how other people handled the game) it was boring as hell. Give me a good challenge (and hopefully a good story— I've been thinking about the plot a lot—I had a rough idea of the plot before I set anything down as certain— I've taken some notes on it, and I'm really excited about writing it) any day instead. I don't consider overcoming boredom a challenge.

The one thing I'm kind of sad about for your group is you're going to get plot spoilers ;') try not to fall too far behind.

Which reminds me, I should do a final playtest of the second scenario (there were problems with the original design— I'm 99% sure it'll work now (but, I'd still have a bit of fun actually *playing* a game instead of just designing one).

And this is my last comment response here— I'll be taking them in the future to the other thread (possibly I'll write a line saying that the response is there).
