BB-8 / Black One interaction

By emsgoof, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I’m using Poe in his trusty T-70 Black One, and have his faithful sidekick BB-8 along, is it possible to remove two target locks? One for the BB-8 free barrel roll and one for the regular boost action.

When you reveal your dial, BB-8 gives you a free barrel roll, then remove a target lock (title). Execute your maneuver, then boost for your action, then remove another target lock (title). Handy little combo if someone is trying to kill Poe with anything and everything they have.

BB-8 also chains very nicely with a couple of other upgrades:

  • With Push The Limit , you can chain an action off of the free barrel roll; afterwards, since you're already performing a green maneuver, you'll remove the stress and have the opportunity to perform ANOTHER action.
  • Likewise, BB-8 triggers Intensity , giving you either a focus token you're unlikely to spend, or an evade that could be useful in a desperate moment.
  • With BB-8 on board, you might want to go with Primed Thrusters instead of the often-equipped Advanced Optics... being able to get off that free barrel roll even when you're stressed can be a life-saver for an high-PS arc-dodging ace like Poe.

I’d agree with that third point, especially if you’re running PTL Poe and not VI Poe.

Sorry for the resurrection, with PTL Poe, dial reveal, roll, PTL (focus), manoeuvre, remove stress, boost, PTL (Target Lock), Poe then done for activation.

You can only use Pust the Limit once per round.

There we go. That'll teach me to look at the cards while thinking about these ideas. However, PTL on Poe does seem to be rather interesting.

Thanks ?
