Quick Ebb/Flow question

By Ahrimon, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

If I make a combined ebb/flow check and spend FP on success or advantage from the control upgrades, do they apply to the combined check or is it just all other checks until the end of the next turn? For example I make a medicine check with flow and score enough FP for 2 additional successes. Do those successes count towards that medicine check?

No, Flow specifically adds the effects to the next check you make, as long as it's the same skill. So if you have to use Medicine on multiple people (or make multiple checks on the same person) you can get a benefit from Flow, but you don't get the benefit on the check you make that's combined with Flow.

Thank you. It says any skill check using the same attribute, but I know what you mean.

It could make an interesting glowstick monkey. Using ebb/flow every attack to boost the next. I'll put that in my back pocket if I can't get my other ideas working. :)

Guess you really have to get into the flow of things ?

What book is this power in?

Disciples of Harmony, pg 38

Eb/Flow had become my favorite Force power. There are so many uses, and it really feels like the character is one with the force.

Step into an argument and add Ebb-strain to your leadership checks until everyone goes home. Give the big bad a bunch of failures on every check. Give yourself successes firing a turbolaser in a space battle, or for piloting checks in a swoopbike race. Make sure you have enough advantage to trigger stun on your shock gloves. It really can substitute for a lot of other powers and talents.

I've never had the courage to use the bottom left Control though.

Seems like the I Win button. Or SWRPG Force Wish

It is not. There are all sorts of powers that add force die to skill checks. Flow does this more universally, but delayed. It is less effective in a lightsaber fight than, say, Draw Closer or Hawkbat Swoop. It doesn't help at all for one-and-done checks (like crafting). It won't help you leap up onto a balcony or convince the guards at the checkpoint that he is looking for different Droids.

But it has its own unique, but very Force User, flair and feel. It isn't the character directing the force as much as the Force User flowing with the Force.

I finally got the book and read the power and then lol'd at myself. I see what you mean Sapient.

It does? Is that in the long description of the power? Because the short description says that it adds to "any checks using the same skill until the end of your next turn" which logically should include that check as well.

I don't interpret it to include the current check (which I would say has already been made). It would be wildly unbalanced otherwise, and would make the bottom left control much worse than pointless.
