Two Avengers

By Mostly_Harmless_Species, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I assembled two lists using BTA, one with Sloane, and the other being a more straightforward ISD I list under thrawn. So tell me what you think:

Sloane One (400/400)
Empire - Author: Eldarion of Gondor

Commander: Admiral Sloane

Objectives: Advanced Gunnery, Fire Lanes, Superior Positions

[flagship] Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120)
- Admiral Sloane (24)
- Avenger (5)
- Boarding Troopers (3)
- Electronic Counter Measures (7)
- Strategic Adviser (4)
= 163 total points

Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54)
- Pursuant (2)
- Boosted Comms (4)
- Flight Controllers (6)
= 66 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
= 23 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
= 23 total points

Squadrons (125/134):
1x Howlrunner Tie Fighter Squadron (16)
6x Tie Fighter Squadron (48)
1x Valen Rudor TIE Fighter Squadron (13)
2x Tie Advanced Squadron (24)
2x JumpMaster 5000 (24)

Boarding Troopers Avenger (381/400)
Empire - Author: Eldarion of Gondor

Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn

[flagship] Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (110)
- Grand Admiral Thrawn (32)
- Avenger (5)
- Boarding Troopers (3)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
- Strategic Adviser (4)
- Quad Battery Turrets (5)
= 164 total points

Gladiator I-class Star Destroyer (56)
- Demolisher (10)
- Intel Officer (7)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
- Engine Techs (8)
- Ordnance Experts (4)
= 90 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
- Comms Net (2)
= 25 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
- Comms Net (2)
= 25 total points

Squadrons (77/134):
1x Howlrunner Tie Fighter Squadron (16)
1x Mauler Mithel Tie Fighter Squadron (15)
1x Valen Rudor TIE Fighter Squadron (13)
1x JumpMaster 5000 (12)
1x Maarek Stele TIE Defender Squadron (21)

So, which list is more viable? To ask about some choices, I did ISD II for Sloane, even though BT needs close range. The goal of that list is to Avenger two ships, one with BT and one with Sloane, so is ISD II worth it? The second list is commanded by thrawn, as he allows the ISD to slow down as it approaches its target to trigger QBT, and also give the ISD another black die. I feel like there is a 75 point gap that the squad wing fills. I don’t have a second glad, but I do have a raider and an arquitens, so could I replace my aquadseith that? Anyway thanks for commenting on these lists.

you cannot double avenger anymore

No, I meant two different attack on different targets on different turns. But I see how the title could have been misleading.

BTA-II works fine and IMHO and others I heard Sloane's Avenger II is better than the default BTA (it was even before the nerf). The first fleet is similar to one I run before the FAQ which was based on objectives with a BTA-II. The idea was to force the opponent to give me last-first or give me around 100 victory points trough my objectives. Now I would have to remove one flotilla to make it legal.

Also you have no rerolls on your ships- how bad would it suck to whiff on the BT turn and have no way of fixing dice?

Hmm. Good point. On the first list, I guess I could ditch a tie fighter for leading shots and then replace sw-7s on the second list with leading shots. Assuming I get one accuracy on a blue die, I could just spend it for an effect better than the +1 damage I’d get from sw-7s.
