Imperial Wedge, Biggs, and Hoobie

By Ravenhull, in X-Wing

I know, the last thing we need are more TIE/ln’s, but I would love to see those three as pre-defector (or, what if they didn’t) Imperials. I would think lower initiatives (3 max in 2.0), and maybe a watered down version of their pilot abilities. Could even sneak a baby Han in there too. How to package them is a question...

Just some random thoughts.

I don't recognize Hoobie. Is he from the old EU or one of the cartoons?

fear Hoobie. Yub nub.

I don't want to fly traitors and terrorists in my Imperial fleet.

From the perspective of gameplay mechanics, there's no reason to do so: if you want similar abilities on TIE fighters, it can be done without using those pilot names. From a narrative perspective, I don't see a strong case for it either. It's true, perhaps those pilots served in the Imperial Navy for a time, but I don't think having them would make Empire players feel good, nor would it make Rebel players feel good. Maybe I'm wrong, and people largely love the idea of an Imperial Han, but I don't think so.

They defected during their training. Theres no lore reason to ever fly them against any type of rebel list apart from generics. Luke vs wedge? Nope.

But... Iden is too good.. I hope Hask will be amazing, so I can abandon that traitorous wench.

Anyway, it seems FFG is moving away from representing the same pilots in different factions, which is a shame. I didn't mind the idea, I did mind that, (as usual) imperials were left out of the fun, except for poor old imp Boba.

But then again...

Spelled Hobbie. Background character from ESB that was mentioned by name in the movie, and had a line. More prominent in the EU, but Rebels also had him.

Well... not sure how to break this to you, but you might want to avoid a couple of the new imperial Tie pilots in 2.0 in that case...

They sound like Academy Pilots to me ...

Doesn't he hang out with some blowfish or something?

As a matter of fact, Vader muscle snatched 75kgs before throwing Palp in the reactor. That's not bad at all. ?

Yea, does everyone forget Vader? The guy who, you know, killed the Emperor?

Iden is especially offensive. A traitorous ***** from a garbage game from a garbage company. Waste of a pilot card.

I’ve got some bad news about what Vader did to Palp, friendo.

Eh, that was a father protecting his son, not quite the same thing as betraying the Empire as a whole to join a rebel terrorist cell because you crave political power.

I'd throw trump down a shaft to save my son, but that doesn't mean I'm off to join ISIS.

A: you can NEVER have too many TIEs, we need more, not less, that's why they need to not remove our aces (backstabber and dark curse) and replace them, but add to them.

B: If rebels can take our most iconic Imperial ship, we should get something of theirs, why not one of their most iconic pilots. It's not like they're concerned for cross factions characters with Sabine and the new falcon release.

Imperial Defector (title, Imperial Only): Increase your Attack and Agility values by one. At the end of the Ed Phase, roll one attack die. On a [crit] result, this pilot changes sides.

That’s an interesting perspective on Vader. In that point of view his act of “redemption” (something I’ve never really bought) was not a selfless act brought about by an epiphany- where he realizes all of his past actions were evil, but rather a more selfish act of someone protecting what’s his.

I don’t think you get to betray the Jedi order, slaughter children, hunt down and murder your former comrades, be an enforcer for a thuggish brutal evil regime and then suddenly decide you’re a good guy and then everyone is supposed to buy it.

If it makes you feel better, I can't think of a more horrific punishment than having your Force Ghost replaced by Hayden Christensen.

People didn't like Vader, even after killing the emperor. They didn't buy it.

We should talk about everybody's favorite Baron.
