Playmat repair

By Darth Sanguis, in Star Wars: Armada

So I’ve spotted some dry rot on the underside of my playmats. I don’t really feel like dumping another 60-80 bucks on new ones. Has anyone had an experience repairing them?

Do do you think coating the underside in plastidip could be a possible solution?

Really it depends on what the actual “rot” is.

Since to my knowledge dry rot is fungus in wood, treated often with epoxy... but the backside of mats are rubber or similar, so it’s reakly hard to tell.

Hobestky this is the first instance of any damage I’ve heard other than “direct water immersion” or “left in hot car baked all day” that’s effected mats. Other than the “it came bubbled”, of course.

You cant repair "dry rot" in rubber, as its not actually dry rot just a breakdown of the rubber. If its early days then use a car tire oil on it or a tire protective coating.

Yeah, Armorall is probably your best bet for extending the life of those mats, if they are starting to dry out.

However, I will be down at Origins in a few weeks. I can send you pictures of any of the 3x6 mats they have for sale. You can always pay me back later.
