Some Core Set cards spoiled!

yeah, I was kinda hoping...literally any other X-wing pilot had made it in there other than Jek

DON'T YOU SLIGHT MY BOI PORKINS

or just a different ability

Is peculiar that they didn't just slot in Biggs, but eh. Biggs' ability is technically utterly worthless if you only have 1 X-wing (core set games), Jek's isn't.

This is likely the actual reason.

Should have put in Garven Dreis if they were not picking Wedge or Biggs. Red Leader at least actually got some proton torpedoes off against the Death Star *and* was in Rogue One to boot.

Piggy is just a guy who couldn't hold it.

Honestly Porkins is more iconic (infamous?) than Garven or maybe even Biggs to the average layperson

ability is also useless in 1 X-wing (core set) games

I'd replace Piggy with any of the axed X-wing EU characters, honestly, but they gotta have self-sufficient abilities

Supernatural Reflexes looks super fun!

I think the phrase you were looking for was “good... TOO good...”

Also a little scared that R2 and R2-D2 are worded differently... i mean its clear both ways how it works but why would they be worded differently? i thought FFG was trying to introduce continuity in there wording.

When you have something 100% identical and yet its worded differently? How FFG?

Same for the R5's..... really upset.

There could be a trigger they have in mind with this. Not sure what it’d be, but I think there’s a reason.

We don't know the cost yet. If force users pay a premium for these, then it will be balanced. Also, probably it's best on Vader, who can leverage it into TLs and Focuses to perhaps avoid blocks as well, but not necessarily on others.

Night Beast seems good. Valen in a normal TIE? Hmm. Upgraded ability though.

I hope they keep Valen in the TAP... or at least put him in a future defender release.

Porkins seems like a good call - he's a memorable character from the movies and has a more casual/janky ability that fits the goal of broad appeal for core set players. Not everyone buying a core set is looking to play a serious/competitive game.

yeah, hopefully SR is priced out the wazzo

scaling upgrade price per I should also be a thing, as generally higher I benefits immensely more from any specific upgrade than lower I

Yes! No joke, I actually wanted Porkins, but I was never able to justify getting the ship he came with. This is unexpected yet oddly good news for me and makes me even more excited about my pre-order.

I’m betting there are 2 more named x-wing pilots in there. It wouldn’t make sense to me for them to have fewer in the core than in the X-wing expansion.

My money says Wes and Hobbie

Edit: Hobbie probably won’t be as much fun without Targeting Astromech, but R3 gives me hope. Wes might not have the same ability re: some earlier comments about standalone benefits (token stripping isn’t as good when you don’t have lower initiative wingmen). Maybe we get Phoenix leader instead! That would be amazing, though highly unlikely

The inconsistency on the wording and formatting on the cards is worrisome. Not a great first impression.

Porkins is a good call, he's fun for new players and most people recognise his character. I always was annoyed by biggs in the core set, because he was ps5 generic for my first games.

Lots of artwork for my old favorite cards going to new cards... makes me think that those cards won't make it into the game. I am sad. No more Determination, no more Backstabber. Also, now the flavor text on Obsidian is a gorram lie, what with everyone and their brother being able to barrel roll.

There has been a bunch of evidence shown that these are most likely early prototypes and the wordings have been changed. The actions article has the wording from one of the droids shown different then this reveal and it matches its counterpart.

I was very worried but feel much better now.

Are there any of these "worrisome" inconsistencies other than the R2 and R5 droids, which are known to have different (consistent) text that is not show on these pictures that (according to their source) were taken some time ago, likely of prototype / mock-up components?

Valen Rudor in a 2.0 Defender with all those actions to take would be incredibly amazing.

There are 13 pilot cards in the Core Set, we see all of them here.

No S-Foils for the X Wing??

And why would be that the case? How is it different to Advanced Sensors or BB-8 in 1.0? (neither of those two was "too good")

Also spending the force point is a pretty big deal for the force users (except maybe for Luke), as it's eating up their potential defense modifiers (and they WILL need their defense modifiers..)

I can't find the contents of the core listed anywhere can you link me to that? Or was it from a stream?

To many things to keep track of!

Well bb-8 was very good and this is straight up way better then bb-8

It's going to have to be expensive.

Yeah they will be good on Luke or Vader, but it's nowhere near the "too good" territory.

And indeed I expect it to be priced accordingly.

So let's just not overreact for once..
