It's important in context of the "Yavin" format that excludes cards from conversion packs and ships to level the playing field for new and old players for the relase. IIRC ffg mentioned it somewhere but i cannot find the source now. Basically, this format was said to be only X-Wings, Y Wings, Tie Fighters, Advanceds, Firesprays and Fang Fighters and cards from core set and their respective expansions. But what about reaper and saw? Why wouldn't they be considered legal here? They're going to be avaiable in 2.0 version on the launch.
Are Tie Reaper and Saw's Renegades treated as part of wave 1 of 2.0?
Since the team covenant demo about the 2.0. I think it's safe to said we can use saw partisan and tie reaper for the Yavin event.
I think it's actually Wave 14. In one of the Intel reports, or whatever FFG calls them, it was mentioned they were Wave 14.
If you check under products you'll see the Reaper and Saw listed under Wave 14.

Solution: don’t play ‘Yavin’ format.
Go with Scariff instead? But the you have Ghost too...
And, oh yeah, where's my **** hammerhead Corvette!

Well, this format is going to be the only place when old and new players can clash on equal grounds and a lot of shops are going to run tournaments like that.

New players should maybe just buy a few old ships and the conversion kits too? Instead of forcing people to drive with only gear 1 in a brandnew porsche...
If they want to play with the big guys and attend REAL tournaments, you have to invest a little bit. It was not different for a new player 2 months ago.

Seriously dude? Which newbie peed in your Cheerios? How about this, if you don’t like the Yavin format then you don’t have to go to Yavin tournaments. You can stay home and sit in your big boy pants and play by yourself.
Edited by HerowannabeI would say since the Tie Stiker is not included in that list then it would probably be a good assumption that the Tie Reaper wouldn’t be included. I guess like most everything else regarding 2.0 we will just have to wait longer to know.
Slave 1 and the Fang Fighter weren't at the Battle of Yavin. I don't think we need to worry about what was or wasn't at the battle. It's just a name for the format. So including them doesn't mean we need the Ghost or Tie Striker.
Having said that I think the format is meant to ease players into the game and they'll probably be left out for simplicity's sake. Perhaps they will upgrade it to a "Battle of Scarif" format after a few weeks while we wait for Wave 2.

Exactly what I will do. I will not participate in any "Yavin-Format". If they are a thing even.
What I will gladly do too: giving introduction games to newbies or interested tabletop players (just using Starters and maybe wave 1). Our club even prepares an introduction day for 2.0.
But tournaments... personally I don´t need a toddler format (where I think experienced players would mostly win against newbies anyway and I miss out on all the ships I love). Not until it catches up to contain most of the old ships.
They are Wave 14 with the 2.0 conversion kit built in. IF you look at the product page they are with 1st edition expansions and not with the 2.0 expansion product line.
I'm going to personally have a real hard time playing empire Wave 1 only without the reaper
I don't play green dice deathtraps, and the Advance are going to have to be REALLY efficiently priced to be worth spamming with all their fiddly TLs
A reaper would really do me well
I guess Scum would be shafted...but have you seen fangs and sprays!? They seem ridiculously strong!

What's the Yavin format? is this an official FFG OP thing? Got a link?

It's on the OP page, from memory - essentially they want to run wave based tournaments to not disadvantage brand new players buying into 2nd edition.
So Core plus X / Y / U-wing / Fang / Firespray / Tie / Tie Advanced / Reaper upgrades.
