Just like the title says. I am curious to see what people are doing, and if you are just buying the miniatures to use for other games, what rules are you using?
Are Any of You Simply Buying the Miniatures to Use in Other Games?

I have thought of modding Arty Conliffe's Crossfire game so that I could use the models. The main issue with that being that Crossfire absolutely shines as an infantry game, but using vehicles in it is somewhat tricky.
I know that there are a few mods for Tomorrow's War for Star Wars out there which the miniatures would suit very well.
Well I've only just got the core set first game planned for next Wednesday which will be Legion.
But I've been wondering about trying to maybe adapt Konflict 47, as that has tanks, walkers from AT-ST upto AT-AT size and rules for aircraft. Covers armoured/unarmoured units, Robots, some exotic weaponry, rules for werebears ala wookies me thinks etc, etc.
As although some unit specific rules that would be general battlefield abilities, the armies are themed by a few specific rules so they can play differently, its how to adapt the existing army rules, but does mean could throw in some IA Scum models and they can get an army too.
Biggest hurdle has been how to use heros, actually be heros and commanders. As K47 works a lot with suprression Jedi/Sith powers can work with that off the card and think about things like deflect which prob off a 6 roll on defence. Maybe keep the healthpools and Vadar removes a suprerssion token from units in his command range when he activates rather than just block it entirely which would be broken for K47 which uses the Bot Action rules as it basis.
Got it in mind as seen a few attempts using BA for Star Wars posted around the web.

No, they are too large. I've been buying MicroMachines for my 10mm Star Wars Ground Assault game.

If you are able to mod Crossfire to fit the scale of Legion, removing the need for stands, modding vehicles should be easy in comparison. Just remove the artificial restrictions. That being a genius didn't stop Conliffe from bungling some stats on WWII tanks will not be a problem. Any chance to see your work when it's done?
I modded Crossfire for use with AT-43! Love that system!
However despite Legion being I-Go-You-Go and being way more killy than suppressive, I'm finding it to be quick and fast and fun enough so far that I'm currently more interested in porting my AT-43 figures into Legion units...?♀️

All the gory details, please!

Ah... I'd have to dig up my old word .doc, but the basic idea was built off a mod I found online for Crossfire with individual 28mm figures. Similar to Legion each squad has cohesion limits.
Then I came up with a wider range of dice types for more weapon classes. I used a range of d4-d12 and made some shift tables but using the same simple model of modifying by a simple interval. I never did rules for jump troopers, but wanted to.
Since all vehicles are walkers, I just ditched the Crossfire vehicle activation model and treated them like infantry for purposes of activation.
I dunno if it was anywhere near balanced, only played a few games with friends, but it was fun, and more likely to get played than full legal AT-43.

Dig up that word.doc pretty please! Sounds interesting.
I'll probably play Legion sometimes, but I'm building my forces based on the fiction first & foremost and will cobble together armies for it just like for any other system. I'm liking Rampant Stars by Eric Farrington, it's fairly stripped down(no heaps of widgets and doo-dads and tokens to fanny about with) and is written as sort of a tribute to the Rampant series from Osprey(Lion Rampant, Dragon Rampant etc) so takes a very "build your own" approach where you pick and choose different traits and abilities to form a unit(it's setting-agnostic). It's focused on smaller skirmishes than Legion, I'd say, at least in terms of the number of units on the table(the actual number of models is up to how you structure your force since it's the unit strength/effectiveness that matters).
Edited by YodhrinI will mainly be playing solo if I ever buy these figures, but that may be some time since I found a local store that has old WOTC miniatures for insanely low prices (like $0.50 each for a fair amount of models). Now if Clone Wars were to come along.....

Yeah, I think you're right on that. My first instinct was to create multi-bases, squares with pre-cut holes in them for adding Legion figs, but I had thought of doing away with Crossfire's basing requirements altogether. So, you're probably spot on thinking that will make the vehicles work fine. Even if I kept the basing standards of Crossfire, I'd be inclined to make some vehicles (like the speeder bikes) count as infantry for purposes of movement anyway.
If I do convert the game I will gladly share it with you. Snowed under with work at the moment, so it's really just at the thought process stage.
I am.
I purchased the core rules to see if I liked them before deciding to try another set of rules, but decided to modify a skirmish set of rules called "OSC - Oscar Sierra Charlie" for use with the figures.
I have two large Star Wars themed 40k Armies (Rebel and imperial). If I was to do it now, I'd definitely use these models instead and just put them on 28mm bases with conversions to lasguns and autocannons etc. The FFG models are great.
But then, so is the game, so I'll be using my models for Legion. ![]()
