I can't believe I'm saying this after pounding Disney over their past Star Wars blunders but I really enjoyed Solo. The story ended kind of open with lots of room for a sequel. At first, I was thinking Solo 2: Tatooine would be a nice sequel telling the story of meeting Jabba and seeing more of Maul. However, I got to thinking about the rumor of a Boba Fett and an Obi Wan stand alone and thought the Solo story could continue in both of those. Thoughts?
Edited by drail14meSolo 2? SPOILERS!!!
It's pretty much a given based on the ending that either the Boba or Obi movies will tie in to this or there'll be a sequel.
I'm thoroughly tepid about the idea, personally.

Why Tepid? I'm no Maul fan but I find his involvement interesting. I'd also love to see Jabba on screen again.
I fully support this idea
I'd be against a literal sequel, but having the Boba Fett or Obi-Wan movies more or less pick up after Solo would be really cool. Maybe have Solo in it, maybe not, but follow up with that Maul ending, and what they were leading to there.
Might be worth putting a spoiler tag in the title....
I think the ending ended up being really lukewarm and out of left field in order to set this up. She shoulda betrayed Han to his face- it would have served the ending better, showed a change in his character that justifies his shooting first rather than what we got.
As much as I always disliked the idea of a Boba Fett movie, after seeing Solo I'd be happy to see the story continued, even if it's from another character's point of view. Big Shot Gangster Putting Together A Crew VS Maul and his new right hand woman, with Boba as the primary character and Han in a supporitng role? I'm in.

I just don't really care to see stuff we basically already know about trotted out, and they've thus far not proven themselves very good at building tension for characters who we know are going to survive.
I'd far rather see a SW movie which has its whole cast and setting be something we've not seen before that's only tangentially connected to the core cast.
In short, it bugs me that there are thousands of worlds out there and more or less every part of every movie has focussed on people who are little more than 3 connections away from Anakin, and the number of worlds we've seen is still in low double figures.
I'd far rather have seen a Beckett/Val/Rio versus Qui'ra/Voss type thing going on, or a Lando/L3/Qui'ra film, rather than having to jam in all the Han and Chewie beats. There were the bones of several interesting plots that could have been better explored if Han hadn't needed to be there to make it a Solo movie.

I would absolutely have been on board with a Beckett/Val/Rio/Han/Chewie ensemble movie as they had very solid chemistry throughout- such a movie would've had more time to have character moments and maybe make Han more likeable and show him learning from the others in the crew. I think I would've found Han's piloting more believable with some learning from Rio, maybe even some kind of montage. I would've absolutely been on board with a movie that didn't just end with Han going to Tatooine with the Falcon.
It was bizarre to me to see Han being so altruistic at that point, if they're tying it in to Han in ANH.
The Marauders being revealed as rebel agents was actually a really good reveal managed really poorly(like much of act 3). I would've been satisfied with that being the movie's connection to the main plot line. The Maul reveal was a wet fart that was incoherent.
Edited by PanzehIt cost $250 million to make, it's made half what rogue one did in the same time frame.
estimates now say it will not reach 100 million even though it's a four day weekend, drop off of 75% expected 2nd week, same as similar flops like justice league and bvs.
why would it get a sequel when it's going to lose at least 100 million for disney, probably more but I don't have exact figures for advertising.
even being generous and assuming it's equal to the original budget with adverts this cost 400 million+
and toy sales are none existent so no help there.
I'm excited for the Solo sequels
Solo 2:

Is Maul in this movie before or after Obiwan sliced him in half?

Odd question....
its after.
Qi’ra movie would be the best sequel. Doesn’t need Han. Definitely needs Maul. Could include Lando.
Assuming it is Maul and not an Oz style hologram illusion to keep the syndicate in line a story about Maul’s demise would be interesting. Especially if it includes Xizor or some one similar.
I say assuming because Clone Wars already had his demise and it was generally thought he went to Malachor after. I can buy into the fact that he continued to lead yhe syndicate and am actually interested in the film that contains some of that backstory and details his ultimate downfall to become the hermit we see in Rebels.
Boba Fett movie probably tie in with Maul and his story.

Sorry it's odd. Just wasn't sure where in the official timeline Leia and Luke are born vs how old Han is...I mean Chewy is 190 "years old".
Boba Fett movie is a huge mistake.
There 100 percent should be a second Solo film that significantly involves Fett.
I would like more.
The movie was fun enough I guess, but felt like it was more "a bullet-point story" than "a Star Wars story." I enjoyed it just fine, but just fine. There was no compelling reason for it to exist except to reference a bunch of things or visualize a bunch of references. If they'd covered half the material with more complexity it would have been a lot more interesting. The closeness of these references also makes the universe feel small. There was a funny tweet from Alexandra Petri too, something like "We already had a young Han Solo movie. It was called Star Wars."
Personally, I want new stories, new characters. Or fill out some that didn't get their due. Best of all would be a Mon Mothma espionage thriller. Just think about it. She starts a rebellion while still serving as a Senator for the Galactic Empire. The possibilities are almost endless. What's more, the actor they had in Rogue One nailed it, and you could even call it "Tinker, Tailor, Bothan Spy."
I'm more than happy for more of the same after seeing Solo. More stories set in the Empire time period, but not focused on the Rebellion vs the Empire. Crimson Dawn is a good starting point. Hutt Cartels good as well. There's plenty of room for universe building there, and none of it detracts from the OT.
Ewan McGregor back as older Obi Wan? Fine, I'm on board. I could happily watch Donald Glover as Lando over and over again. Aiden Ehrenreich was fine as a younger Han, and there's still more room for him to develop given the finale. Chewie wading into the melee and ripping arms off fools? Yeah, it definitely left me wanting to see more.
Boba Fett? Eh, maybe. I've said it elsewhere, but what I'd really love to see what Disney could do with Bossk. We've seen a fair bit from Boba, but it would be interesting to see some of the other bounty hunters in action. I keep thinking of modern practical and CGI-enhanced effects applied to Bossk, and him in a full on hand-to-hand war with Chewie. There's a lot of potential there.
So there is this:
