Will we see any more X-Wing 101 Articles?

By PaulRuddSays, in X-Wing

Considering that Quick Play cards will give threat level builds around ships using only cards from the core set and expansions, will we see any more X-Wing 101 articles? It seems like there's not much of a point to articles suggesting playable builds you can make for $101 USD - just pick up ships you want to play, count up to the agreed threat level, and go!

In other news, high level players relieved they'll no longer be asked to put together (probably?) iffy squads for people that don't know good lists from bad.

My line, sir. You seem to have taken it XD

As interesting as these articles were, they ended up calling more attention to the flaws and issues of 1.0 than they did assuage the average reader. The idea was to let people know that you could jump on into X-wing and have fun. While the general idea of this was true, it became highly apparent that the lists that were made with the $101 were not all that competitive and that you COULD still have fun as long as you didn't expect to win. Most articles usually conceded the point that you would have to go out and get a few critical upgrade cards to really make the lists sing.

One of the good things about 2.0 is that you don't have to buy another faction's ships just to get an upgrade card. Additionally, It seems like you will be able to throw a few ships and upgrades together and have something fairly viable (if not cutting edge).

No, mine.

Wouldn't it actually be 201?

It would still make sense to give out information on how to move from the cards to building yourself. As well as how to build good synergies and maximize the new things (i.e. how to link actions properly, get a turret in the right spot, when to spend tokens vs. hold tokens). No reason to not help out the newbies as much as possible. A growing game is a healthy game.

Yes, or 200, depending on institution.

Or mine?

Since this thread is back up, I’ll just take a moment to comment on how much more thematically correct upgrades seem on the whole. My favorite so far is how scum Lando/Han work against each other.
