How do you know which ship your 2.0 dial is for?

By mazz0, in X-Wing

They no longer have the ship model (or a product ID) on the dial, only on the centre circle that gets punched out, and on the cover piece.

Is it written on the back? Otherwise it’s going to be hard to keep track of these if you’re keeping them separate from the card covers in order to use them with the plastic covers.

Paint =P. I've labeled all of my v1.0 on the maneuver side with a bit of paint. It's too difficult to know what SWX76 means. I used to be able to just identify them on sight, but too many dials exist these days and I don't play the game often enough anymore.

I guess the game will implode and we'll have to burn all our ships.

Kidding.

Likely they have something printed on the back of the dial with the maneuvers. I doubt there wouldn't be some way of identifying which dial goes to what.

Don't sweat it.

Also, maybe we already know the answer: some of the un boxing videos of the X-wing expansions from Worlds might show the backs of the punch.

The T-65 cardboard pic in the "Changes" Google doc shows that the maneuver dial has a rather small font "T65" on the back.

There are small identification markers on the inside of each half of the dial, as well as on the outside face of the back of the assembled dial.

Here's a picture of the punch components in my new T-65:

Awesome, cheers dudes :) I keep them all in separate bags along with the bases for the ships anyway, this is just for when they get mixed up.

I actually quite like the new card dial solution, so I might keep them assembled, and dedicate my plastic dial cases to my favourite ships.

Wouldn't this set up allow a perceptive, informed opponent to know what you dialed in by the back of the dial? Am I missing something? Please tell me I'm missing something.

When assembled, the “T65” labels will be sandwiched in the middle, not visible.

You're missing something. There's nothing on the edge of the dial that would give away your maneuver.

Gotya, thank you @tsefardayah and @J1mBob. So much info to process, didnt realize the two parts of the dial are oriented differently in 2.0.

Added thanks.

I put the dial in the section with the ship and base presently.

I use a large tool parts organizer for each faction. Some use Plano and have multiple cases for each faction.

It will be easier once the resistence/fo ships get their own case.

I'm sticking with the three factions available for preorder as the "new" stuff doesn't excite me.

When assembled, the dial-back has a big “<ship name>” banner across the back so that when all the dials are face down on the mat it’s easier to tell which dial goes to which ship.

Edit:

oh, I see what you were saying. You were responding to @E Chu Ta‘s question about the tiny T-65 giving away info. Nevermind, carry on.

oh, that's nice. in 1stE, I added my own label's with the ship name since it was becoming a pain to id the dials to but them in the upgrade covers.

Looking at it, I'm a little confused on how to determine what maneuver the dial is pointing at. It looks like the maneuver dial points "out" from the dial, instead of "in" like the old ones.

It's not shown in the photos, but the back part of the dial should have an arrow at the top. In the photo above, it would be on the top of the red half of the token that says "T-65 X-Wing", but was cropped out of the photo.

It’s not the cut-out that indicates which one is selected, there’s a little arrow
