Spreading hope - New article about Leia & Fleet Troopers

By Bojanglez, in Star Wars: Legion

Interesting that they didn’t give the Fleet Troopers their own preview article showcasing their play styles like they have every other unit.

Totally agree.

Maybe they're worried that giving a specific play-style focus in an article would yield them negative feedback?

I've seen someone on another thread mention taking multiple Grenade Launcher Fleet Troopers and knocking enemies out of cover from behind random barricaded and AT-RTs.

It's obvious that FFG is run by sound minded members of the galactic empire and will give these filthy rebels as little acknowledgment as possible. Long live the empire! (Yes, I just changed my avatar so that it was not a rebel allied character before making this post). :)

@Indy_com Not sure if you're referring to me or not but that is an idea I posted in the Fleet Trooper thread. It was more of a brainstorming suggestion than an actual recommended tactic.

I think that Fleet Troopers are, ultimately, an ambush unit. They want to get up close to the enemy and either deny area based on their Ready ability, or they want to jump out from behind LoS blocking cover and unload on an enemy unit. Not sure how those tactics fall out in an actual game, but that is one of the things that appeals to me about Legion so far. Each unit is different and part of the game is figuring out which units to use when, for what purpose. Good stuff, that.

It was you.

The way you mentioned it sounded like a plausible tactic to try at least once.

Lol, that's what I thought. It would be highly dependent on getting the Fleet Troopers (there has got to be a better abbreviation for that) close enough. I just picture them more as a shotgun to the Rebel Troopers rifle.

Fleets?

I mean, I'm still calling them the Alderaanian Consular Security.

FTs

...naval infantry...

I'm pretty sure my one friend has me convinced that they should be Marines. Ship bound infantry has historically been referred to as Marines, even if they fall under the Army or Navy.

What's weird is that we never got around to create a linguo around space stuff: They're always affiliated to naval.

Space-marine: Astroopers (Astro-troopers), cosmoldier (cosmos soldier), etc...

Fleeties!

lol, this is actually what I was leaning towards...or Fleeters...

Floopers?

I’m going with Fleeties to match Stormies and Snowies. Next up is Han and the Cammandies. Then Boba and the Scouties.

Fleet Troopers are called Bicycle Helmets around here ...

Let's call them Marines, because they're only useful in specific situations and the Army does all the real work....

*patiently waits for a devil dog to read that *

Wouldn't the Commandos be "Commies"...?

And would a squad of Mandalorans be "Bobies"?

They’d be mandos. That’s already been established as canon.

Surely they’re called cone heads...
