Stayin Alive (Scum List)

By eljms, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I fly scum and I've tended to focus on lots of damage output (ordnance) and hit points over agility. I wanted to try something different, I think my aims were:

- Fly more, high agility ships

- Try and be frustrating to kill

I'm drawn to Serissu, I'm not sure how strong she really is but I like the idea of a defensive reroll for all her buddies. I think this could be particularly cool with Sunny as he can use his pilot ability to double his rerolled result. If he can stay close to Serissu it essentially turns him into a 4 agility ship. Linked Battery does the same for Sunny's offense, he rerolls an attack dice and doubles the result (assuming he didn't roll double focus, double hits, or double crits first time out). The additional result for both attack and defense makes him great value at 18 points.

I'm not at all convinced tractor beam is the right option for a Serissu cannon, especially as Thweek will probably shoot before her, but I didn't feel I had the points for anything more substantial. I could give up the bid and take Mangler, I could take tracer missiles. I could even give up the title and use the points elsewhere (Thweek). Push the limit and Stealth device are there to make her hard to land hits on.

The Star Vipers carry a bit more threat while still being tricky to kill and autothrusters is a generally powerful card that adds to the theme of being hard to hit.

This is where I'm at so far, input welcome!

•Sunny Bounder (18) - M3-A "Scyk" Interceptor
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2), Linked Battery (2)
Black Sun Enforcer (24) - StarViper
StarViper Mk.II (-3), Autothrusters (2)
•Thweek (27) - StarViper
StarViper Mk.II (-3), Autothrusters (2)
•Serissu (29) - M3-A "Scyk" Interceptor
Push The Limit (3), "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2), Stealth Device (3), Tractor Beam (1)

I get the appeal of Stealth Device on Serissu, but I think I'd rather give Thweek the other title with FCS with those points. You have to have some consistent damage output.

Yes, for sure trade SD on Serissu for Virago/FCS on Thweek. He can then be your main hitter sort of chap.

Sunny is great as is.

As for the other two, I like the idea of double vipers. But what about Thweek and Guri? Gives more punch to the list overall, like so:

Sunny

Cannon Title

LB

Serissu

Light Title

Attani

Guri

SV Mk. II

Attani

AT

Thweek

SV Mk. II

Virago

FCS

AT

More actions all around makes for more punch, even though Serissu is a wee bit more fragile...

You could also give Guri Intensity and find Serissu a different ept

I did try my original list and while it made for a long game, it didn't hit hard enough to be any real kind of threat. I like your suggestions although I'm considering ditching the Star Vipers altogether, flying Serissu and Sunny next to each other (Serissu with a better cannon) and flying a powerful large base ship next to them (currently considering Kath).

When thinking about powerful large base ships, don't forget Asajj (time walk in some way, really strong)

But I obviously approve Kath, love to fly her myself
