By Wedge Nantillais, in X-Wing

Herm... all I have to say to the french is: "Repeat after me. Eighty."

Nah, the Emperor didn't spring for that feature, but he did go all out on the James Earl Jones voice emulator. In retrospect, a good call because Anakin's regular voice is really not intimidating.

Must be a USA overpriced thing. I preordered my Rebel conv kit from Chaos Cards in the UK for £35.95. Obviously not as cheap, but its in english and free postage.

I'm trying to get away without the new core set and download the rules (until my OCD kicks in).

£35.95 is $48.17 at today's conversion rate, so about the same

€25,00 is $29.25 at today's conversion rate (and £22.00), so way off.

You forgot the > 1000 different cheeses, all the charcuterie, which weight in as well!

Yep, a nice freshly baked baguette and some ripe casgiu merzu. Perfect!

...that's no better than what the conversion kits are costing in the US too. $39.99, free ship etc.

Yep, that’s what I paid.

I left some money in my GenCon budget for the starter and Rebel conversion kit at full retail, assuming they are available. I’ll be wanting to play 2e there if possible.

NVM. Can't get the code to work.

Move along. Move along

$29 dollar conversion kits would bring everyone on board with 2e. I'm glad I haven't pre-ordered. This makes me more hopeful that $29 conversion kits will be available on black friday for us Americans. $50 x 3 = $150 really is a large amount of money for a bunch of cardboard.

Yea. I couldn't find a good gif from the movie to add :(

I mean, we could definitely discuss the inverted economic relationship between freedom and security and how you cannot gain one without losing the other

Or we could discuss the fallacy of that statement. Here in Australia we have both :P

Here in Australia we still end up paying more for our shiny toys though, the RRP is $80AU, best I've seen is $65 for the conversion kits.

So from your example, we see it's actually a triad arrangement between freedom <--> security <--> money. Austraillia may have freedom AND security, but the reason be its location on the wrong side of the planet, leading to negative money from expensive X-wing.

Yeah, most companies who export to us take the opportunity to slug us a bit. Things can be cheaper even after the exchange rate, but postage, especially from the US is a real killer.

That's cool though, I'll take that with no chance of getting shot at the school I teach at and ranking higher than a certain 'land of the free' in EVERY freedom index :P

Sounds like a good deal, even with "mandatory voting". Too bad practically ANYTHING THAT MOVES down there is deadly and willing to kill you! XP

Just teasing. My favorite podcasters are a pair of Aussies, and I'm DYING to visit your country!

Mandatory voting has it's pro's and cons, but I think it's great because it really is a vote of the people, not just 'the people whom could be bothered'. As for the deadly stuff, yeah, we have more than our share of poisonous things, had a Red Bellied Black Snake outside my classroom last week, had to keep the kids away for a bit. I'm not sure if I'd swap the Great Whites and Saltwater Crocs for bears though.... :P

Of course even baby Drop Bears are cute :)

I remember visiting Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and being told not to touch the snakes because Australia has 2 kinds: venomous and superdamnvenomous.

As far a voting goes, I'll never understand why we consider it so dang important then don't give people the day off to get to the polls. We have holidays to celebrate the founding of the country; seems that working on keeping it running should be a holiday, too.

Oh, we do have some snakes that aren't poisonous, but not many :D

Yeah, polling day is a fairly big thing here. It's always a Saturday, and there's always sausage sizzles and cake stalls at the various schools and churches the polling booths are at. Us Aussies are big on sausage sizzles :)
