YT-2400 2.0 the new Jumpmaster?

By Jadotch, in X-Wing

No boost, no PTL (or linked actions), red barrel (which you can only fix by using your talent slot, if you've got one), range bonuses at distance 3.

Is that really... a problem?

Seeing as all of our defensive mods are greatly diminished I would say yes. There are no more autothrusters to keep fragile ships safe from turrets. There is no real donut hole anymore. There is no arc to dodge with Luke around.

WAIT!!!!!! Whhaaa?????

They're giving the YT a WHITE S.loop?!?!?!?

You're right..... This must be the X-wing End Times.

You keep assuming that the 2.0 YT-2400 is going to have a Gunner slot when that may not be the case at all.

are you talking about the yt-1300 or yt2400? Because it's super unlikely that you can put gunner Luke on any yt-2400. I'd bet my Raider that you can't.

It's definitely possible that the YT-2400 will not have a gunner slot. I think they implied that some of the turreted ships will not get this (I think HWK-290 was mentioned in regards to that).

Since YT-2400 had one crew in 1st edition, they may decide it either gets gunner or crew but not both. I'm hopeful that it will be just the one crew slot.

3 dice at range 1 versus 0 at range 1 is also a thing.

But only R1 and actually in arc. You have almost 180 degrees of 0 dice to approach from. I think the ship will have plenty of counter-play with the new turret mechanics, especially if there is no gunner slot.

This is literally a clickbait thread designed to freak people out plus some bonus « the sky is falling ».

With little to no substance.

You can express your concerns about some combos, but saying right away that this is the new Jumpmaster while the new edition is still months away is something entirely different.

Clickbait? This is real substance, man!

The white s.loop dial is total evidence that ffg knows something we do not.....

That there will be a Dash cameo in the new SOLO movie.

It's just a big conspiracy to boost sales and make every YT24 sell off the shelves as fast as possible.

Probably gonna be confirmed with point costs, too... Maybe they'll even let 3 or 4 in a squad.

Everyone better sell their collections fast before they get caught in one of the biggest money grabs in gaming history!

At the risk of people jumping down my throat despite it being relevant to the discussion...gunner Luke dash > 1.0 dash

Higher I, no blindspots, recipe for disaster

HOWEVER, we are not guaranteed a yt2400 with Luke like we are guaranteed a yt1300 with Luke (ze art)

With this in mind, I have to reiterate...mobile arcs make 1.0 turret ships FAR more manageable than their statline would suggest

Just having that limitation already puts it behind the insanity of the 1.0 jump, before we start loading up on other distinctions (range 3 bonus, no uber mods yet, dial ain't nearly as good etc.)

So no, the yt2400 ain't no torpscout

...unless it's revealed to be a mere fifty points

That estimate thread posted here on Sunday had the basic generic at 80. That seems reasonable-ish. Of course, that's an estimate and the OP admitted there were likely issues with the numbers.

80ish sounds decentish

Course generic outrider was 43...but the generic was also wildly overpriced

Lack of range 1 bonus (in fact, range 1 detriment) should keep it reasonable

I want Eaden Vrill on the new Outrider with his old ability. If i can find any stress mechanic with that, it would be nuts, mobile arc or not.

Just barrel roll every turn :D

There might be a stress-inducing talent or crew but Rebels don't have any yet. We'll see.

I'd hope we don't get vrill (or vrill's a reroll) or you're staring at a six die railgun, courtesy of Ms. Ors

Anyway, at 80 for a yt2400, I'd trust a defender to slug it out just fine

And Defenders could well be 80 points with that sexy statline + action bar + full throttle

Oh **** it now this is the third thread I need to ***** about turrets in.

Turrets are cancer!!!

Yes, the very smell of an effectively 360 arced turret should bring out the torches and pitchforks to be sure.

Everyone knows this freighter is far more manuverable than a TIE/In, an A-Wing, am E-Wing, a TIE/Ln etc.

Were not stupid ya know.

...is it 5:00 BTW?

Oh, and @Jadotch, you might be correct. “This piece of junk have a torp slot?”

“Hey, who you calling a piece of junk?”

It will be ok. But not amazing.

Stress can lock down its turret arc, and it has limited blue on the dial to shed that stress.

Offence: 4 Dice attack is indeed excellent but I don’t see an option to TL and Focus same turn (based on the upgrades we’ve seen so far. That means you’re probably firing T1 with 4 unmodded dice, T2 with full mods (TL and focus IF you can hold the target in arc).

I don’t think it will have a ‘gunner’ slot of old. Probably just 1 crew.

The real bonus is the chance to do crits.

So it looks like a ship that’s going to be quite variable. When it hits though it will really sting.

Defence: 2 dice evades isn’t ‘bad’, but there’s no Rey option (yet) and I don’t think we’ll see one. So again really variable defence and vulnerable to swarms. The BR is situational. Almost like an emergency swerve (viable given the decent Initiative value for Dash, maybe for blocking for generics). HP wise it’s not much changed. Expect it to limp a lot once those 4 shield are gone however.

So it’s not as agile as the old JM5K, but has the chance to put out some big damage numbers. On that basis I think it will have a high base cost, but won’t really ask for (or have room for) much on top upgrade wise. Could easily be 100 points just for the generic.

I have always called Dash the "jumpmaster that doesnt care about rules".

I think about 85 is right for the yt2400

Jumpmaster to cost 45.

75 for the yt1300

Dash has been my most hated pilot since he brought his Rob Liefeld wanna-be *** into the game. Looks like I'll be hating him and his stupid pouches in 2.0 as well.

Jumpmaster? No. Still stupid and more powerful than a sane person would want? Sigh, probably...

I think your jumpmaster & yt-1300 numbers are correct for cost on initial release. My educated guess for the yt-2400 is lower at 80 points for the generic. Dash will cost around 110 on release. Flying Dash plus a generic will likely be possible on 2e release with 10 points of upgrades even. The cause for concern about this is warranted as duel yt-2400's can simply not be a bad list. Dash with Ghost may become even more common because a 70 point ghost will leave more room for upgrades. Rey with Ghost & Dash with Ghost are completely viable lists in 1.0.

Two four dice psuedo-turrets are not something I want to consider.
