Tie Strikers Seem Good

Do we think Countdown & Sabacc will have the same pilot ability in 2.0?

Any guesses at their Initiative level? 3 and 4?

They said that adding dice and mitigating damage would be rare. Sabaac and Countdown do literally those two things, but in a pretty limited way, so who knows? I4 and 3 sounds right.

Indeed. Whilst Lightweight Frame may have gone the way of the Dodo, actually getting the range 3 bonus means that the dice roll of Dash vs a Striker is unchanged, and he's supposed to have a harder time getting full focus and rerolls on the same attack.

A 4-dice primary attack with only a full target lock (or full focus) versus a striker with a focus at range 3 can one-shot it, but it's very unlikely - something a little less than a 2% chance, now.

The odds are still nearly 40% that Dash will hit you hard enough to kill you in two shots or less, but a half-a-squad big ship only being able to bring a striker down every other turn is something I can happily live with, especially if I have a 6th wingman.

While it normally will take Dash 2-3 turns to kill a Striker by himself (1-2 if helped by his wingmate), one thing that can't be underestimated is that Dash now does crits a whole lot easier than he did before. In testing, that surprisingly felt worse than Luke crew doing his thing for Dash because with a swarm I could surround him and attack from different angles. When those 4 dice can now add crits to that in an environment that generally gave up shields for more hull, that will matter even more than I think people realize.

This is the key point. Dash simply doesnt have the dice mods to crush a single striker on his own in one turn any more. At least not based on the spoiled cards we have seen.

That means the target lives and dies based on the threat of the other ship in the list.

A fully modified Luke Torpedo + a 4 Dice Range 2 Dash Primary though seems sketchy!

But those are all things the Striker player has some control in game over allowing to happen to them.

Exactly that bolded part right there. The Striker player will have the ability to not let that happen by cycling out ships and not giving the Dash+ player an obvious target available to them.

I would love to see an I3 Countdown. Hands down my favorite striker. The ability is defensive, but it skews towards being good against only 2 ships. I like anti-2-ship abilities. Hopefully 2e has more of them. It's fine because it only reduces damage, just like how reinforce works now.

Sabacc's ability seems very strong in 2e. Seeing as only the Rebels have 4-attack ships. Sabacc would become the goto pilot for Imperials. I hope the ability stays so Imperials can give Rebels a taste of their own medicine.

The slight buff for duchess is just right. She has the possibility to be Imperials best pocket ace.
