Weapons engineer allowed you to get 2 locks at once too. The r3 is really the identical card, just a droid instead of a crew. Obviously they changed it so it can’t be used by imperials. Rebel bias!!!!! ?

No reason we can't also have weapons engineer crew that does the same thing.

It's been said before, but...

Ewing, R3, Fire Control System 2.0, and Proton Torps.

TL two ships, get rerolls against either, and torpedos if you have the opportunity.

Never really thought I would seriously consider using a squad of E-wings but... well here we are.

If named astros are basically regular droid plus ultra then maybe R3-A2 will gain M9-G8s ability? Able to maintain and acquire two target locks and able to make the locked targets reroll dice?

Interesting possibility there. I hope its something more usable, though. Maybe allowing to pass locks off for a charge or something.

Was kinda joking there, but actually it could work on, say, a J-Type, pure support ship (no weapons).

Ship ability:
Astromech bay: -1 crew slot, +2 astromech slot

So like Shara Bey's Arc ability? Sounds pretty nice, and would go with the Rebel identity it seems with synergy with allied ships.

Buuuuut I always loved the idea that R3-A2 is a spiteful little droid and messes with the enemy:

Enemy: Just need to to focus and line up this sho-

R3-A2: *Loud beeping noises*

Enemy: Now hold on there, what did I do to you?

R3-A2: *Louder beeps*

Enemy: You just don't like me? But I did nothing to yo-

R3-A2: *LOUDER and ANGRIER beeping*

Enemy:...*sniff* You don't have to be so mean about it...

R3-A2: *Cackle-like beeps*

That’s not hard, just complain about turrets and say the hwk model is the correct size. Boom, done. ?

Yay E wings!!! I really hope there's some more janky but useful Astros coming in the kits too as aside from regen they were generally pretty fun to play upgrades - great fluff too!

But, turrets do suck and the HWK is the right size.
