absolutely no clue

I'm more on the "reduce total damage by 1 to a minimum of 1" camp because writing a conditional die canceling clause is going to get messy

"During the Neutralize Results Step, cancel one [hit] or [crit] unless that would cause the shot to miss."

done.

What would be the point of creating different wording in the first place, if it just cancels results all the same?

I expect it to reduce damage and not cancel results. Guess we'll see in August.

Now I'm not one to bring up theme, but can you even reinforce against ion?

Star destroyers don't seem to take too kindly to it and they're pretty dang sturdy

I know this has nothing to do with Star Wars, rules, or anything relevant to this current topic, but this does remind me of a scenario that I had encountered during a Marvel role playing game:

Dungeon master: "Blob holds his ground, preparing to absorb any attack."

Me (Spiderman): "Fair enough, I'll use my web shooters to simply glue him in place."

Dungeon master: "Huh?... err... darn."

I don’t understand the question.

Why create a different wording for a mechanic (reduce damage), if it ends up doing the same thing as a previous mechanic (cancel results).

Your proposal does not require a new expression. It can be expressed with the existing vocabulary

oh, i agree.

I think Alex Davy saying "reduces damage" during a livestream is not the same as what the rulebook will say.
