Nemesis Deck

By The Cocky Rooster, in Imperial Assault Campaign

When does the Imperial Player have to reveal the 2 villians on his first class card? When the deck is chosen or when the villains are deployed for the first time?

Thanks.

I believe it's when they're chosen.

That way, he can't selectively switch them out for something situationally stronger when the villain gets deployed for the first time.

Because the rebel players need to show which heroes they choose at the beginning of the campaign before the imperial player chooses their class deck, the imperial player also needs to say which villains are earned using Powerful Foes when it is gained at the start of the campaign.

Thanks Trendy! :)

Do I disclose before the players choose heroes or after?

ninja! Thanks A1bert!

Before starting a new campaign, perform the following steps.
1. Choose Player Roles
2. Choose Heroes
3. Choose Imperial Class
4. Build Agenda Deck
5. Build Side Mission Deck
6. Set Up Introductory Mission

very helpful guys! @subtrendy2 @a1bert

Hi me again. I was thinking of adding this guy for my Imperial villain, but we're going to play Heart of the Empire. Is there a conflict?

thanks. UNxCS5N.jpg

He looks good!

Without giving too many spoilers, maybe. Nothing in the rules would prevent you from using Palpatine as an earned hero from the Nemesis class deck. He does have a chance of showing up once or twice throughout the campaign, and in those missions where he is already included in the reserved groups you would not be able to bring him in an open group. You could still bring him in any other missions, and that might help raise the stakes/dramatic payoff when the Rebels encounter him at other points in the campaign.

No, I don't think there's a conflict, in the same way if you choose Terro as your gained villain for Jabba's Realm. (You just can't gain Jabba as a villain by any means on the Jabba's Realm campaign.)

If you already have a villain in reserved groups, why would you want the same villain in open groups? e.g. Inspirational works whether the villain is in open or reserved groups.

That's what I was wondering about. I wasn't sure if Palpy was going to be showing up in a lot of the campaign missions.

If you care about theme, it might be a little screwey, since he's sorta supposed to be a big reveal at the end of the campaign.

It's not necessarily like the core campaign, where Weiss is introduced and possibly encountered a few other times before the finale.

It's totally possible that outside of open groups, Palps might not show up at all until the finale.

That being said, he's an incredible villain for his price, and I wouldn't worry too much about the open groups thing- by the time you get to the finale where he's a reserved group, you'll possibly have other villains earned by then anyway.

Thanks all for the help.

I'm going to go with:

An Aqualish, Bothan and an Ithorian go into a bar...

I'm going to use Onar, Mak & Murne as the informants in Dark Recon.

....but they left because they were feeling alienated.

I love using other hero figs for tokens.

After our heroes lost Return to Hoth (down to the last roll) we played a mission in Jabba's Realm where they were trying to rescue some Rebels from a prison. I used the defeated heroes from RtH instead of tokens. The heroes failed that mission as well, and those Rebel prisoners were killed.

My players were actually pretty sad about that.

That's cool. Nice story use. I hate using tokens for figs. I've purchased a bunch of proxies for my Descent collection.

I did some searching on eBay for the races in the spaceport in the 2nd mission of LotA. but they didn't have all of them and shipping alone was $46 USD for 4 $3 minis!!

That's steep!

Yeah, there were actually one or two races in that cantina that I wasn't familiar with. I guess you could just throw in Rebel alien figures as proxies and read their races differently when they're in text.

Anyway, looking forward to your HotE experiences!

That's a good idea. Yeah, I had to go to wookiepedia to see what they looked like.

Yeah I'm pumped to finally get it to the table. We have 2 'full-time' players, running Gideon, Jyn, Ko-tun & Vinto. We also, have 3 alternate players that will be subbing in over the course of the campaign.

That's an interesting team.

Two support heavy heroes, one objective runner, and... Vinto.

If you've never played as the Empire against Vinto, get prepared to really, really hate him. Maybe doubly so with Gideon giving him extra attacks.

Yeah and then the 2nd gun at 3xp IIRC. I've only Empired once before in Bespin Gambit.

Any pro tips?

Squads aren't your friend for open groups anymore.

Nexus are fun. But really, I haven't found a great counter for Vinto yet. Basically, just throw stuff on the board and don't get too attached.

The secondary gun is a waste of XP, in my opinion. I've found that as far as weapons go, DDC defender is brutal, because it's potentially 3 extra damage per turn, that Vinto can surgically place wherever he wants. He can even place it on figures that are blocked by other figures, if he uses thread the needle (and it's really easy to build a strong strain lite Vinto class, anyway). Add in Shot on the Run and Merciless, and you've got a character who can deal a ton of surgical damage, as well as potentially being pretty hard-hitting on his own.
