The real question is obviously going to be.... Is the T-65 X-Wing going to be competitive this time around. Or is the famed fighter doomed to crawl into a docking bay forever.
2.0 Question
Does it matter? I've flown T-65s since I first got into this game 3 years ago; competitiveness be damned.
Yes, to me it kinda does! I dont wanna one of my fav ships and name of the game to once again be put in the grave yard during tournaments .
well the good thing is that this time they have the app and more control how much points the ships costs due to the 200 pt lists. So if it su*** they can just tune down the pointcost a bit, until it has a great point cost that it is sufficient in
Looks like they should be good out the gate. Just looking at wave 1 ships, the Xwing got the most love. I am looking forward to wave 1 only tournaments.
The YT's have me genuinely concerned though.
Speaking of the T-65, I heard they have brand new models with moving wings? Is this true?

It is. For simplicity; look at the Saw's Partisans expansion - you can see the X-wing in there has S-foils closed.
Why do people keep whining about the t-65?!? Janson and Biggs (up until the recent faq) have been playable since day 1. Just because not all ships are playable people get upset? Who is it we're missing and why? Luke? Ok, I'll give you that.
Their abilities were playable but the platform hosting them was bad.
Thane Kyrell in an x-wing is going to wreck things. Him and Wedge could be fun. Well, not for me as I fly Imperial, but for someone.

Yes. Starting with Saw's Renegades, you can get a Partisan themed X-wing with moving wings (it comes with 1.0 and 2.0 cards). The 2.0 core set will come with the new model in Red 5's colors and the individual 2.0 X-wing expansion will be in a basic Red Squadron colors.

Good to hear, Ill wait for 2.0's wings then, as I dont really care for the partisan paint job. it just looks lazy
You may want to pick it up anyway if for the unique pilots.

This basically answers the question.
I think what it boils down to is fans of Star Wars wanted to be able to relive their childhood by running around yelling, "Pew pew! Nice shooting Wedge!" Meanwhile those kids have qrown up into adults that want to exercise their tactical minds by playing a dogfighting game. Its only so fun flying Luke and Wedge and Biggs when they get blown out of the sky time and again. Many people flew Biggs as a tactical piece to protect their real squad but what many wanted to do was have Wedge be able to realistically take on 3-4 academy ties single handedly like in the books and movies. The extra hull, new actions and S-Foils at least give him a chance to do that.

Wedge? Porkins? Hobbie?
I mean, if Tarn Mison, the Hero of Hoth isn't coming back, what're we doing this for?!
X-wing's major problems were all to do with a lack of boost or barrel roll which made them highly predictable, wedge may move last but that's no help if I know where he'll end up.
And even though you could add them later you were just making an inefficient ship worse.

Ooryl? Piggy? Runt?
Not all pilots need be human, you know...

I believe that Porkins would be classified as a 'Meat Popsicle'
I dunno man... I've gotten second place twice, and 2 top 8's with Wedge in the last 6 months... Flight Assist is deadly!

. . .they can't seem to play a game for anything other than a victory end-result.

I guess if we're going strictly for lore, the Imperials should lose anytime the Rebels field a unique pilot.
Short answer: Yes, they're good.
Longer answer: Have you not seen any of the demo games on YouTube?

It's a war game the whole point of playing is to see who'll win.

A position which, as an Imperial player, my wife always reminds me when I lose.
"Don't be silly, you're supposed to lose."

Yes, but that does not preclude you from trying to win with something less likely to win.
You only get hung up when the winning is more important than the playing.
I often play lists where I'm likely to lose, because I want to "see what this does."
