Need your expertise on my Raddus Fleet

By Phillipsosophy, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Greetings! Please give me your thoughts on my Raddus fleet. My strategy is to use Raddus and Profundity to warp in my MC75 & 2 hammer heads to take down the opposing flagship (or whatever ship has the most points/ poses greatest threat). I also have rapid launch bays to get 3 lancer’s into the fight. The Neb will lead 6 headhunters on an anti squad mission. I admittedly suck at fleet building so all recommendations welcome.

Name: Raddus Fleet
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Admiral Raddus

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Cham Syndulla (5)
• External Racks (3)
• Garel's Honor (4)
= 48 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• External Racks (3)
= 39 Points

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
• Adar Tallon (10)
• Yavaris (5)
= 72 Points

MC75 Armored Cruiser (104)
• Admiral Raddus (26)
• Intel Officer (7)
• Rapid Launch Bays (6)
• Profundity (7)
= 150 Points

Squadrons:
• 3 x Lancer Pursuit Craft (45)
• 6 x Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (42)
= 87 Points

Total Points: 396

It does too much. The squadrons aren’t really worth using Adar or Yavaris on as they just don’t hit hard enough individually. You might be better served droppping Yavaris for a flotilla and going all rogue if you like Lancers. They’re also fast enough to not need the launch bays. Your MC75 isn’t going to hit all that hard (generally) as it has no re-Rolls (Need C&S or Leading Shots/QBT). Also, it isn’t going to survive much without ECM or EWS. Those are some cursory recommendations to chew on.

How about this?

Name: Raddus Fleet
Faction: Rebel
Commander: General Dodonna
Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Boarding Engineers (2)
• External Racks (3)
• Garel's Honor (4)
= 45 Points
MC75 Armored Cruiser (104)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Intel Officer (7)
• Caitken and Shollan (6)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Expanded Launchers (13)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Profundity (7)
= 174 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 28 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
= 26 Points
Squadrons:
• 4 x Lancer Pursuit Craft (60)
• 6 x A-wing Squadron (66)
= 126 Points
Total Points: 399

BCCs don’t stack so just take one, and if you take one, you might as well take Intel to make sure you get to use it. For the 66 points in A Wings, you could get Jan and some X-Wings, which help protect the very fragile Lancers and also benefit from the BCC.

For the Armored Cruiser, you’ll get limited use out of Expanded Launchers I would think. External Racks or Ordnance Pods might be a better choice and will certainly save you some points.

Thanks CommanderDave. So I should fly the lancers with the fighters in a group? I usually fly the a wings up ahead to engage any enemy fighters before they can get their hands on the bombers but then again I sick at Armada lol. I’ll put the new fleet together after work to see what you think. I really appreciate your time working with me in this.

I like theorycrafting and I’m relatively new myself, so don’t take what I say for the gospel truth or anything. You don’t necessarily need to put the lancers in with the escorts prior to engagement, but I think having Jan/Hawk will allow your bombers to hit regardless of the enemy fighter screen. If you like the A Wings, you could drop the lancers and BCC entirely in favor of YT-2400s. This gives you decent anti-ship capabilities and a very solid anti-fighter screen. It’s mostly a matter of preference and deciding what is more important for your list.

So at almost identical cost you could weigh:

1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
3 X-Wing Squadrons ( 39 points)
4 Lancer-class Pursuit Crafts ( 60 points)
= 118 total squadron cost

vs.

2 A-Wing Squadrons ( 22 points)
4 YT-2400s ( 64 points)
1 Shara Bey ( 17 points)
1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
= 119 total squadron cost

@CommanderDave has given excellent advice. One more thing: Raddus is happy with either MC75, but Dodonna wants the Ordnance Cruiser, which can double arc with APTs. With Ordnance Experts and External Racks, you have a good chance of triggering two Dodonna crits in a single activation. Nasty.
