Ok, so before anyone says “watch x video,” or “it was on the stream,” I can’t watch 30 min - 1 hour videos or watch streams do to limited internet.

So, I know that the Calculate action exists, but what I don’t know is what it does. I assume it’s similar to focus, but I’m sure it’s not identical. Could someone tell me what this action does exactly?

Changes one eyeball result.

Mini focus, I believe. Change a single eye result to a success.

Supposed to be a lot easier to get multiples of, however.

It's the same as the Force token if you decide to spend it on modifying results. Force tokens can be spent on activating abilites, Calculate (AFAIK) doesn't do that.

Their effect is to spend 1 token to change 1 focus result to a hit or evade, but you can spend multiple on the same roll.

The action assigns 1 Calculate Token (a new token) to the ship. The token can be spent as described by the previous posters. Only droid pilots will have the Calculate action (it's possible astromechs or droid crew/gunners may put the Calculate action on the ship's action bar, too, on occasion).

Its weaker than Focus, but 'machines' are as 'intuitive' as meatbags. But, I am expecting to see upgrades (and ships) that will work with Calculate. Maybe one might let a pilot bank some, ala the Moldy Crow and Focus. Or, a weapon/device that only works when fed a Calculate token.

A new thing to give droids more flavor.

Well the IG's get an extra when they do the action. And I feel like 2 calculates is probably on average better than 1 focus.

Since you are unlikely to need more than 2 on a single roll, but if you only need one you can save the second for later, yeah, definitely. Can’t spend half a focus.

Of course, if you roll 4 eyeballs on your defense roll, oh well....

It seems like an interesting way to give droid specific upgrades.

The requirement could be just to have the Calculate action on your action bar and upgrades could allow you to spend them for different effects.

I could see them making something similar to mindlink but only for droids.

The potential is very exciting.

It is the action FFG used to price the conversion kits.

I actually had the same question. It is answered in the big conversion unboxing when they are looking at scum. If you get access, that one is worth a watch.
