So as soon as I saw Mauls ability I thought of Bossk with 3 crew slots.

Assuming Bossk still has 3 crew slots the first can equip maul which says:

"... You can equip Dark Side upgrades"

Is that what I think it means ?? if you can equip imperial and first order only upgrades then all the great crew that the imps have scum now have!

dark side upgrades refer to specific force power upgrades. Bossk cannot equip those because he does not have a force power upgrade slot.
