In 12 hours we will be streaming our first X-Wing Outer Rim Diversity Day Open Invitational. I tournament format that is designed to be as inclusive as possible. Rule are as follows.
1.
There will be four Swiss Rounds.
2.
You will bring four different squadron lists WRITTEN (or printed) on four separate sheets of paper.
3.
You can only use a unique name on one squadron sheet.
4.
Your squadron ships must be different. For example, using a squadron of six Z-95s with Harpoon Missiles is fine. But, you will not then be able to use a squadron of five Z-95s with Homing Missiles. You could use three Z-95s with Cruise Missiles and a YT-1300. If you don’t understand what ‘different’ means, then perhaps this is not the tournament for you. The intent of this tournament is to celebrate diversity and inclusivity. Otherwise, stay home, you’re not wanted!
?
5.
At the start of each round, you will show your opponent your remaining squadron lists. Your opponent will choose which squadron that you will use for that game. When the round is over, that squadron sheet will be ripped up.
6.
There will be a lot of lead time between and before rounds, where players will need to quickly assemble their squadrons. Please bring your required ships, baseplates, cards and other components and have them efficiently stored for your easy access on the day. You will be required to build all four of your squadrons on the day.
7.
Players who are still writing lists at the last minute will be penalised in Round 1 by losing shields (or hull) from some of their ships for Round 1. You have been warned. BRING YOUR FRIGGIN’ LISTS WITH YOU! “At the last minute” will be defined by the TO, especially if the question “Where is the pen and paper?” is asked.
8.
Pairings will take place at 10am. You will then have a short time to assemble your first squadron before the timer starts.
9.
Questions, on the day, about food breaks, lunch breaks, toilet breaks, safe-space breaks, etc, will be ignored. Logic, common sense and good judgment will prevail. If you’re not sure – follow what everyone else does. There’s nothing like blending into the crowd to celebrate your individual identity and diversity.
10.
Have fun.
