MC80/30 List Suggestions

I'm in the middle of painting up a larger scale MC80 from Mel's to match an MC40, but I'm pretty abysmal with large ships.

Anyone have a favorite 80/30 list they enjoy playing they'd like to share?

This is what I've messed with so far. The 30's upgrades didn't seem great, and I don't know if I have enough of a cover against heavy squads.

Thanks for any advice...

Mc30s aren't that great with Ackbar. Not because they don't hit hard, they are like a truckload od bricks with the extra reds.

Ackbar likes ships that remain at long range and rain red dice. The shrimp has to go close to use its blacks, and stay there circling the target. For that it either needs Madine's/Leia's extra maneuverability or Mothma's/Cracken's/Rieekan's extra survivability.

Spot on. If you still want Ackbar and you could find a way to shift nine more points around, might be better to have 2 x TRC90s instead of the MC30. Two more red dice a round and one more deploment/activation. Ackbar is also a pretty hefty price for his ability to be usable on only two ships.

Thanks for the advice.

Ha thanks for that too

Yes, @CyborgNinja , please don't consider that @Ginkapo used them to great success Pre-Wave 6 or that the list's focus is against specifically stopping Demo and Rhymer. Better just to ignore other opinions.

Thats just when I wrote the article.

Ackbar does far more than just sit back at range. But sure, lets call him a 1 dimensional commander. If you ever go into a game with a single plan you are in trouble imo.

Compared to assault frigates, mc30s put out 1 less red at long range. They are perfectly capable of sitting at range if thats the best strategy for the matchup. However unlike assault frigates, mc30s have teeth at close range and give you a second dimension to your play.

Source: multiple store champs. Uk nationals top 10, euros top ten and regionals 2nd.

Your pith is unwarranted Caulkins, i wont acknowledge the title.

You stated “Ignore them” and linked your article. Nothing more to go with your thoughts other than that.

I don’t disagree with any of your points, as they are good points, but I do disagree with your engagement. You could have easily said that you found success with Ackbar and MC30s without having to disparage @Norell and I’s advice. By then linking your accomplishments and adding your final comment, you are essentially saying that it’s okay to be a jerk if you’re successful.

Good. We agree with each other then

@Admiral Calkins don't mind Ginkapo. He has a very... peculiar.... style shall we say? My guess it's some kind of role he's playing on the Internet, but he won't change it for the world. He still knows a lot about Armada so his advice may worth listening to. Even if his list is obsolete and most likely not competitive in wave 7.

Thanks, @Norell . He does sound pretty knowledgeable... I’m pretty new to the forums, so I’m still figuring out personalities and protocols. I guess I just figured this would be a little less like Reddit because there is a chance we will play or interact with one another IRL. Thanks.
