2.0 Krennic

By Commander Kaine, in X-Wing

So many people say he got much worse, but he didn't lose just the benefits along with his text.

Now he can choose any friendly ship, except himself. True, that his ability stops working the moment either he or the prototype goes down, but now he can damage ships even if the shields are gone...

I think with a cheaper price, the card could be great fun. Flipping crits seem to be a powerful mechanic, especially with these nasty crits we have.

I think it is safe to say he will be a lot cheaper (5 points, probably, so half of what his 1.0 self is costing, possibly less).

He will be cheaper, and his ridiculously extreme power will not be needed.

He's fine.

Well, technically, he can't damage ships. He can flip damage cards, which can result in additional potential damage... or not.

Also, to flip the card, you need to cancel a potential damage result. I think most people will simply prefer to push the additional damage rather than flipping a existing one, specially if it is a [crit] result.

Not to mention that in order to remove a shield, you need to cancel a potential damage result.... Or you can simply let the damage through, and remove the shield anyways.

it's a bummer he can no longer change blanks... especially with so many imperial ships lacking the Lock action

He just seems to be tough to use effectively and also his effect in 2.0 is just a bit rubbish. Really disappointed.

well, we will see. I will however flip out if the broken rebel crew combos are not reined in similarly.

I don't like him, as he requires a two ship combo to even do anything. Even if he's cheap I don't see myself wanting to run Krennic. Which is fine, he can stay in that mediocre movie by himself.

I wonder if he fits with palp in the decimator to support Vader. Since Kylo is no longer an option.

A guaranteed stripping of a shield that bypasses evades is pretty great, even if its not nearly as reliable as 1.0.

Also, he will combine nastily with the single most common critical - since Direct Hit has now changed from "this card counts as 2 damage" to "suffer an extra damage then flip this card down"....

Yep, but there are less copies now of direct hit than before. Also, we don't don't know yet for sure who will flip the cards. You, your opponent, or lady Luck.

Mechanically speaking, anything that grants you an extra focus token is strictly better than Krennic.

less direct hits, but more Fuel Leaks which are almost as bad.

he better be 1 point

otherwise
