Sabanverse

I think that everyone has watched Power Rangers at some point. Some watched Mighty Morphin and others may have watched Dino Charge or even watched Hyperforce Rangers on Hyper RPG's twitch of Youtube. But, I am sure at some point we all have watched it.

I have started a game that reboots the Power Rangers universe. My players are all original creations and not the old Jason, Zach, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly. I created three Talents for players to use: It's Morphing Time which lets them Morph and gives them bonuses. We Need Dinozord Power Now which lets them summon their Zords and We Need Megazord Power Now which lets them combine their Zords into the Megazord.

I also made the stats for the Putties. I also created a base monster template and what stats change when they are made larger. The next part was to make stats for the various Zords and the Rangers specialty weapons. I then created stats for Rita and Goldar. The game itself was remarkably easy to create. Genesys system fits in perfectly.

Now, here comes the tricky part:

I want to include in other similar things from Sentai or Metal Heroes such as VR Troopers, Beetleborgs, Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, Kamen Rider (specifically Dragon Knight).

For the Power Rangers, the talent It's Morphing Time gives them +1 to Brawn and Agility, 2 Defense and an additional 5 wounds and 5 Strain.

For the VR Troopers, I was thinking of giving them +1 to an Characteristic and then plus some bonus ranks in Skills appropriate to the Characteristic as well as a unique weapon.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is something that I have been playing around with in thinking of giving them a series of Talents like the Star Wars Force Power Trees.

I have not yet thought of what to do for the rest of them (Beetleborgs and Knights) and so I am opening the floor to the esteemed people in this community.

I've thought about adapting Setai stuff as well. I think I might try it at some point in the future for a special occasion. Can I ask why you created tallents for morphing and the zords? Those abilities are all granted by gear the characters have in the shows.

Because I wanted to have definitive limits. Namely the Megazord and Dinozord can only happen if Morphed. Also, Morphing Time can be used once for free per session but they can use it again for 2 Strain. These Talents are not real Talents that they have to buy. They need the Power Coin and Morpher to do it, as well. I figured it was simpler to make them Talents and more in tune with the setting to do so.
Also, Summoning the Zords are their Action. They can use a Maneuver to board them. When it comes to the Megazord, it is a Maneuver to bring the Zords into the same spot and the Action is to join together.

I also used the Talent format to keep with the spirit of the system. The format keeps things contained and codified. I have found that it also is a great template to use for future setups.

That makes sense. Its not the way I'd do it, but I can see why it would work.

Are you doing to use the optional rules from the superhero section as well?

No need to do so. Now, if I ever advance it up to Dino Thunder, I may need to worry about that but, for the time being they are still in Mighty Morphin. So the enhanced speed and strength and durability (The +1 to Brawn and Agility I give them when Morphed) is enough. I picked up the Keith Krappel supplement and have been using that to make hand to hand combat a bit more robust. The first few sessions have been a nice mix of fighting putties and monsters on a micro scale and then getting into the Zords and fighting things on a macro scale.

Nice, glad to hear it's working out for you.

Thanks. I thought that the system fit perfectly with the genre. There is one main bad guy and then a henchperson or two. So a Nemesis and a Rival or so. Then you have the shocktroops of the villain...aka Minions. Zords are, literally, a vehicle. Megazord is just a vehicle but on a bigger scale. The action sequences can be over the top and dynamic. Yeah, Genesys handles that all really well.

Totally agree. I had similar ideas myself when I was reading the book the first time.
