With Boba released as Imperial, I got to wondering as to whether there will be a Scum faction. I see Scum as being neutral, or maybe units that are dark aligned and light aligned. Some factions (I.e. sequels) are easy to align, such as the First Order being dark. I see droids as dark, but Clone troopers could be either, depending on who leads them. I see Naboo and Gungan as light.

So besides saying I want XYZ, what alignment do you think they will be? If you look at the cards, they have a faction in upper left, so I do expect some more at some time in the future. Also, I am talking factions, not units within factions.

Going by X-wing , Boba Fett started off as an Imperial pilot, then when Scum entered the game he got a Scum version of the pilot. Now that they are releasing X-wing 2nd ed, he has lost his Imperial pilot and is strictly Scum. It could be they do the same for Legion, release him as a Scum version in the future if they decide to make a scum faction.

I don't think they will do clone wars, as they seem to steer away from it. But if they do, I expect the Clone will be light side. They fought along with light side heroes exclusively until the order 66 was given. And I think they will make it just the 2 factions, Clones and Separatists. Naboo races would be on the lightside Clone army side. If /when they do New Republic era, I expect them to be a completely different factions as they are splitting them off in X-wing as well.

But what is Light? What is Dark? Are either of them objectively good or bad? It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

I hope they add a bunch of armies like other games do. That way the armies stay cinematic and thematic.

Itll only take a few more releases for the original trilogy armies to feel like a complete product.

Then they can continue on releasing complete products like clone armies and droid armies while updating and adding to the larger sets.

leaving some armies as limited smaller sets.

Exactly, from my point of view the Jedi are evil.

The real question is what is light and is dark? Will we see neutral, such as scum or another army? Like I said, some are easy, but some factions (Scum & Clone) could be taken to be either. Although I think Clone will be light due to be lead by Jedi. Some factions may not have a light or dark force user, so will they be neutral or given light/dark?

I am asking for opinions, and a good discussion if we disagree.

Pfft. But where's the fun in that? Ascension is overrated. Gotta be behind the scenes pulling those political strings. For the Good Of The Galaxy of course.

I had figured the chance of a Scum faction would be dead by including Boba Fett in the Empire but as with X-Wing they transitioned his alignment as a third faction was added.

My absolute wish was that a Scum and Villainy faction would have been introduced and we could have gotten a box set of the Bounty Hunters from Empire Strikes Back with Jabba as a commander and a whole set of objective cards so that we would be taking on a 3rd faction and not just replacing Rebels or Imperials with Scum.

Maybe if and when a third faction is released they will just include a booster card for Boba Fett to adjust his alignment. Much like having a Campaign and Skirmish card for Heroes/Villains in Imperial Assault.

Yes, I would like to see Scum and Villainy, but I think they may be neutral and not aligned light/dark.

No Scum factions, please. While I'm sure you could gather enough bounty hunters and mercs to form a Platoon if the game is fixated on Galatic Civil War ground combat, NO SCUM. Armada is better without Scum, and it's only somewhat tolerable in X-Wing.

I would love to see Clone Wars factions, or just to really piss people off, a Yuuzhan Vong faction. That would really throw the whole "Light Side/Dark Side" alignment into the dumpster.

Clone wars factions would be neato. I’m guessing x-wing will be their first test for prequel product demand.

I agree though, I'd expect the Prequels to show up first in X-Wing, and then migrate to Legion and Armada. (in that order)

When I saw that X-Wing 2.0 had a whole icon for Force powers I just assumed we'd be seeing lots more Jedi pilots, which seems like a strong indicator for Clone Wars stuff at least.

They also have a droid specific action and token type.

I meant that as support for the idea that they would be bringing a droid army along with the Jedi army.
