So ... this X-wing is also a game ?

By ausxwing, in X-Wing

I'm more of a collector than a gamer, so I thought with the changes coming in 2.0, a sculpt discussion thread would be good. (I've searched for a model only thread with no luck - correct me if I'm wrong)

No game talk - just model discussion

From info read from others the X-wing, Y-wing & Fang Fighter will change, do you think that each re-release will be upgraded ?

not all ships will get new sculpts, some might get new paint jobs, some might not get any change. It looks like the firespray might have a new paint job, but the TIE/ln and TIE Advanced look the same AFAIK

I heard a dev mention giving the Firespray more green highlights.

Pretty sure the majority of sculpts will be unchanged. Ywing was especially poor originally, and xwing and fang were updated with articulations.

So unless the ship falls in one of those categories of being a terrible original sculpt or not having articulation when it should, don’t expect a change.

There was some discussion about the sculpts on the Team Covenant videos. Obviously the articulated s-foils on the new X-Wing was a big point, and they mentioned the new Y-Wing sculpt and the pivoting wings on the Fang. What they also said was that there may be other opportunities for resculpts along those lines, and some corrections (the new version of the TIE Silencer will be smaller for example, as the original dimensions were incorrect), but that they're hoping to re-release every existing ship into 2nd Edition ASAP, so not all models and paint schemes will change.

The TIE Silencer is also being resculpted to a smaller model, in a more accurate scale to the other models. I'm not sure if any elements or features of the model will change other than size.

I don't have much to go on, but I think the Tie Silencer is going to be resculpted to a smaller model. Probably so that actually fits on a small base.

on a Gold Squadron Podcast, they mentioned that the "wings" on the new firespray moved. and somewhere else that the base paint color was a bit lighter. Can anyone confirm they added articulation to it?

They are SO going to make every new ship look different just to suck us all in.

I could have sworn that Alex said on stream that it's the same old Firespray that we know and love, so if we get the Conversion Kit, there is NO reason to buy the Firespray, unless you just want an additional model.

I'd be ok with that too. but if the paint is noticeably different and the wings move, I'll need one. I wonder if I should go ahead and sell mine now......

Yep, found it. Here's the link to the Twitch video:

They mention it at 05:42:50 or so. @J1mBob is right, the Firespray got some green highlights and other paint touch-ups, but the sculpt is the same.

So you people do exist. I had only heard legends, rumors...

It's lies. All of it.

We're here, quietly in the back ground, sobbing as we realize that we are up for more $$ to support the OCD ... (Obsessive Completist Disorder)

Deceptions, even.

Wait the Silencer was not to scale? Someone necro my topic about how garbage that decision was.

GSP was incorrect. New paint is all the Firespray model got.

The TIE Fighter already got an updated model with the gozanti (and first order). I hope we will get this model with a classic paintjob in the core set.

The new core and expansion TIEs looked like the same models to me on fairly close inspection (that was one of the first things I checked after the announcement), but they have their proper Imperial Navy blue/grey paint this time around.

The new TIE advanced also has the proper paint this time.

Only proper according to which movie you watch! I personally prefere the light grey ones. If this BoLS 2.0 play video uses the new ties, they look light grey, but with really black solar panels.

They were only grey in Star Wars because they couldn't figure out how to get the blue screening process to work correctly with the desired blue/grey coloring. That said, if you like the off-white TIEs, I have 3 I am trying to get rid of, PM me :)

I physically handled the models direct from the core set FFG had at the event, and they were definitely the same blue/grey color (or darned close to it) as the TIE/ln models included with the Gozanti Assault Carrier.

Whatever the reason might be, they are still light grey in ANH and Rogue One, and I personally think they look sinister like that. Hehe but no thanks, will soon have more Ties than I know what to do with ;)

But then it must just be the old Tie fighters in the gameplay video!

Headcanon it as the Empire upgrading their production of TIE Fighters between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.
