Configuration Slot

By Khyros, in X-Wing

So I was just day dreaming at work... And recently read through the S-Foils thread asking about if B Wings would get a similar treatment. So we currently know about two configuration cards, the Pivot Wings, and the S-Foils. They are both dual cards. But I can't help but wonder about the name of the slot. In v1.0, we have the BTL-A4 title card for the Y wing. But correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that just a configuration of the Y Wing? It is a slight variant from the BTL-S3 configuration . Is it possible that we might see more configurations like this? Perhaps even things like the B-2E B Wing could be a configuration. Heck, you could even make the case that things like the Chaardan Refit is a configuration of the A Wing.

What do you guys think? Is this slot a new way to create variants of ships without making new ships? We've seen a similar thing in Armada where you have ISD-1 and ISD-2, which use the same chassis, but are variants that change how they play... We could be heading in a similar place in XWM.

I think it is entirely possible.

I think configurations are just supposed to be positions of moving parts. The BTL-A4 is actually a modified BTL-S3

True, but if someone was to say that they have a BTL-A4 configured Y Wing, you wouldn't be like "wtf are you talking about?" It's a 1 seat configuration of the Y wing, with a forward locked turret (since you don't have a gunner to control it).

I think configurations are going to be whatever they need them to be. It's a new slot that basically takes the place of the old "generic title" fix, and which can easily be used to add or remove upgrade slots, grant abilities and alter point values for a ship. The TIE/D, x7, StarViper MkII, TIE Shuttle and both Gunboat titles could all easily fall into this category.

It’s been common speculation that the old ‘fix’ generic titles will become Configurations if they are not rolled into the pilot card itself as seen with the TIE Advanced. It makes sense with ships that had multiple titles like Scyks, GUNBOATS, and Defenders. The nature of taking one or the other but not both lends itself to a new upgrade slot separate from Titles, which appear to all be Unique in 2.0.

@PhantomFO it looks like the Starviper mk 2 was baked into the pilot cards from what I’ve seen. That still leaves the Virago unique title too.

Where did you see something about 2.0 Starvipers?

I had been wondering, with how many ships have their generic ‘titles’ ‘baked-on’, how they would handle ships that had more than one. Tacking it onto the Configuration slot would be perfect. Also, you could avoid such things as ‘this title also allows you to equip a second title’ like we got with the StarViper.

We know Advanced, Reaper, and Striker have their titles baked in. Most of the cost reduction titles will be baked in already. I imagine the other parts may be part of a configuration.

Seriously, If you have seen anything about 2.0 Starvipers, I need to know about it. Now. Like, right now.

Edit: only thing I have seen is a dial that looks exactly like a Starviper with the 2 banks turned blue. That's helpful at least but I haven't seen any stats or action bar or anything.

Where did you hear that? Because that seems pretty baseless as I expect the Gunboat 2.0 reprint to be one of the

latest re-releases...
