As much as I'd love to see Dreadnoughts or Ventators in the game, for a medium base, I'd go with the Acclamator-Class assault ship. Give it two versions, one refit for combat with a lot of red/blue die, while the other is a missile boat, with lots of black die. Not a ton of hull, so it doesn't compete with the Victory, but enough power to make it a threat.
IF you had your choice to pick a new medium imperial ship what would it be?
I would pick a Rebel medium, because the Imperials already have three.
I liked some ideas, and disliked the Clone Wars ships, we don't need any of those. But between both Imperial and Rebel factions, what we need are:
-Nebulon-B2 Frigate
-Strike Cruiser/Modified Strike Cruiser
-MC40a Light Cruiser
-Assault Frigate MKI
-Dreadnought
-Carrack Cruiser
-Escort Carrier
-And some other ships that we see on Star Wars Rebellion (PC game)
you missed out the multitude of cargo ships

The Mk1 missile type would also be a good platform for an upgraded use of the new Assault mechanism.
Resulting in 2 distinct versions to choose from.
id say about 6-7 hull.
Edited by ISD AvengerI'm not sure what Hull it would be based on but as far as capability and cost I would like to see something between a GSD and the VSD with medium/long and medium/close range variants.
All this garbage ship designs. If the imperials get another spd2 medium im done. That design well is tapped. Rebels have a spd 3 large with et. Time for imperials to get something in that vein. Enough sluggish medium trash.
My only concern is that even if FFG decides to release the Dreadnought it will be the puny Rebels variant not the mighty EU version...

I have repeatedly mocked the old Dreadnought designs. But whatever that is in the pic would be an acceptable design. The blisters on the side give it additional bulk, additional menace, and change the profile decisively away from what I've called the "space dildo" look of the previous variations.
Shame it's not what they used in Rebels

Agreed. Another medium speed 2 ship would likely make the Victory even more uncommon. And in terms of appearance, the Vic beats the dreadnaught so I wouldn’t be eager to replace them
I like the dreadnought. I always have. And most people like him so he seems like an obvious choice.
However my secret darling was always the Strike Cruiser.

(http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Strike-class_medium_cruiser)Luckly while FFG did not publish this wonderful ship @Utar and @melminiatures did.
So only the rules are missing.@DiabloAzul did a fine card (even though I would have put more red into the front as there were the most Turbolaser)

and two titles:![]()
so it was easy to build upon that.

and of course the Strike Cruiser was know for its customiable modules (that also lead to a certain weak spot)

and what the Empire did about the weak spot:
and finally the usual uglification of the Rebel Scum:
So out of curiosity. Why do people think Speed 2 is so bad? Most of the time I am going speed 2 anyways.
dreadnought is a commonly seen design, but will stay at speed 2, *** it has aging engines (repeat fast 6 times)
Strike can be that speed3 medium base; like a Glad with more red/blue dices and a crit weakness
Love both designs, so I allready own 2 of each from Mel
I would rather see a cheap lifeboat corvette for the Imps, or the upgrade for the Vic 2 to give it some manoeuvrability.

^^^^This. Anything like this is way better than releasing Clone Wars ships or any new ship from the new Disney trilogy. Armada should be focused anywhere near the original trilogy and Rogue One
arent most of the OT ships from the CW era anyway?
I dont think it would be medium sized… but id love to see lancer frigates

Thank god none of the Clone Wars stuff made it into Armada. Except for the Gozanti, Arquitens, CR90, Pelta, Firespray, YV-666 and Ywings.

It's more about speed 2 limiting options. Plus 0, 1 nav chart at speed 2 really hurts the VSD.

Yea, but my Dreadnought design has 1 - 1,1
A medium base ship?
The Super Star Destryoyer.

And, while it never popped up in the show, the Victory SDs were Clone Wars era according to lore. (and the Victory Fleet vs Bulwark Fleet story was awesome)

The mighty EU version? That was described as antiquated, under-armed, overly armored (for the time). Only worth anything as the heavily upgraded/networked Katana fleet?
But it would be a medium based ship in Armada. And with some upgrade cards I'm positive it could sing on the table. The Disney variant would be just a small base good-for-nothing expansion with no role to fill in the current meta.
