Great for area denial. 7th fleet (depending on list), exrax and qbt under Vader=legit

You CAN use a vic. But you have to work very very hard to do so. The ships have zero flexibility and thus you have to design your entire fleet around the platform. So, to me they are a failure of a ship. I havent used one in ages because of their lack of turning and their slow speed, they cannot react to anything the opponent does that you havent planned for. And if I have to run a certain admiral to make a certain ship work, that ship is a failure.
I love the Vic, almost as much as I love Demo. I am seriously thinking of running with one or two at the Euros.
a bigger glad

Why not have both?

A little something I've been trying out.
@cynanbloodbane Don’t need to see the list; just the name alone is a winner.
There is also a glorious pucker factor from your opponent as you gather dice pools! The sheer violence of this fleet is not to be underestimated.
I recently ran 2 Vic IIs & a Vic 1 under Thrawn. Lost the game by a single dice roll ?.
They are very unforgiving of movement errors but they do hit fairly hard.

Yeah, that is the weakness of the VSD!
On the up side, fly nothing but Vics for a while, and then switch to ISDs, and they practically dance for you!
Strike Cruiser that utilizes its modular design to provide multiple ship configurations:
- Assault Cruiser
- Skirmisher
- Carrier
- Command Cruiser
- Whatever else you could come up with
each different version would give you a different ship base configuration & upgrade slots fitting the modular theme

Personally I dislike my 70+ point VSD being eaten alive by an XI7-equipped ISD-II even less, so I wouldn't put faith in the VSD.
I want to... but as long as large ships with huge batteries are vogue and XI7s exist, I keep foreseeing a situation when a VSD can do nothing to protect itself and has to eat damage.

So ISDs are better than VSDs in maneuver? That's probably why people take them all the time over VSDs!

The only way to fly a VSD is limiting yourself to 1 so you can take Tua. Without some effective defensive options to make them tank better, VSDs aren't worth it. It's a shame because in most respects, like attack power, they work just fine. But Defense and speed kill them.

Yes. It can be argued effectively Glads can be flown in pairs or threes (Insidious is a vicious title too. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE how brutal blue range black dice double arcs can be from it...), but VICs seem best either as one lone area denial or slow-boat brawler, or as a carrier with teeth (Vic-II w/ Gunnery Teams). At this point I see little justification for Raiders; I have been shifting to Decimators, bizarrely, as I am finding them to be a real menace to ships and fighters both, and for their points they tend to be far more effective than a single raider. I flew a list a few months ago that was Bossk, 4 Decimators, and IG-88, 3 glads w/ OE, ET, and ACM, with Jerjerr, against a Kuat Avenger+Demo+Tie Swarm list... Was bizarrely very effective. My usual combo is just an ISD (build and admiral varies) and Demo plus this mess of heavies nowadays.
...of course I also am known to fly 3 ISD's for fun and wreck stuff that way.
Oh so necessary roughness...

As to new Medium ship; Dreadnought. Slow, incredibly tough for size, middling cost. Should be comparable to VIC in maneuver maybe, but cheap, with medium broadside, mediocre front and piffle rear arc weapons, and low (maybe 1-2) squadron, decent Eng (3?). Maybe Brace, Brace, Redirect. Two defense retrofits? Be cool to see that on something other than the MC80 Assault Pickle...
