Why Does Cthulhu Get the Fewest Cards Total, AP5 - AP18?

By Dam the Man, in CoC General Discussion

Looking to add some APs and get back to CoC while waiting for Secrets of Arkham, I downloaded all the spoilers for the APs and went over them. One thing that struck me was that Cthulhu faction gets so few cards. After doing the math (assuming math + spoilers are correct), if one buys 1x each AP, the factions get the following number of cards:

Agency and Miskatonic: 60

Syndicate and Hastur: 63

Yog-Sothoth: 67

Shub-Niggurath: 68

Cthulhu: 50

10 fewer than the next lowest faction, almost 20 cards down on the highest factions. Sure, the numbers don't tell the whole tale, but still seems odd. Cthulhu has just one AP with more than 4 cards, all others have several.

Cthulhu has the fewest cards, it's true. Mountains of Madness had just Cave Mouth. Only Path to Y' has three CT cards. Agency has as few AP cards as does Cthulhu. But it's a close range between all faction of 28 to 32 AP cards. If it were not for Clarney, Core would be uniform at 20 per.

I think Dam is saying that counting rarity cthulhu gets less. Fair point as you put together your collection. Put another way, LCG CT has more rares. A moot point going forward.

The raw count of different released cards is the stronger statistic, I think. A thinner range of 49 to 52 per faction. LCG CT has only 26 characters, the range to 30. The reason...dyanetics. Translation, with each release the counts get closer together. By 2095 there will be 1,000 LCG cards. All will be right then.

Cthulhu's faction has one of the lesser character's ratio than the others factions, this is it's DNA : Less characters, but powerfull ones.

If you consider CCG times, by selcting the characters from the Deckbuilder choices. : Agency was the weakest in character's stats and then Cthulhu follows. That pure mathematics, as those faction had characters that were abl to stay at the table for a long (toughness+willpower for Agency, toughness+ encounters for Cthulhu). Actually, those stats are changing, like you mentionned in your previous post.

Agency : 38 characters

Miska : 70

Syndicate: 74

Shubb: 62

Yog : 80

Hastur : 65

and CTHULHU : 61

Actually Agency and Shubb got the most character-filled factions! But the times are coming for new charfacters to appears in the faction that leaves the Deep ! As you might see, the strongest factions right now are the ones which gets the more.

Secrets of Arkham and Yuggoth contract will change the deal this year ! Previous cycle of AP did give some extra ammo (mmomquah +dreamland fanatic), but the serpents people will rock your world !
