My friend and I are doing something fun while we wait thru this long news drought. We’re essentially doing a CC/long tournament with eachother playing each wave in order.
The basic rules are a mix of CC and regular army building:
You only live once. Everything is dead when it dies. Ships, upgrades, and commanders. No scarring, just it’s out when it dies.
Fleets build too max points each round and can switch ships in and out freely, but upgrades, titles, officers and uniques are stuck once placed and will be lost if the ship is destroyed or removed. If a ship or ace is a survivor of the last round they gain a veteran token.
You must use an admiral and at least 1 ship from the current wave being played.
You can only use upgrades that released with or before the current wave being played.
Each wave consists of 1 to 2 games depending on how many commanders were released.
Core-300 1 game, wave 1-300 2 games, wave 2-400 2 games, wave 3-400 1 game, wave 4, 1 game, CC-450 1 game, wave 5-450 1 game, wave 6-450 1 game, wave 7-500 1 game.
The points increase is to keep things feeling like CC, and because we like big games.
So far we are on our second wave 1 game and it’s 2-0 Empire (me!), they sure were strong back then. It’s really fun going back and remembering how weird lists had to be built before there were so many options and various metas to be concerned with. I find it to be reinvigorating my enjoyment of Armada, which has been lacking of late. It’s very much a trip down memory lane for my friend and I. So join us and take the challenge, play the waves!
