Pack of Jump packs

By TylerTT, in Star Wars: Legion

With boba we have seen our first jet pack unit.

im wondering what would be your reaction if FFG released a box with 7 jet pack models made to customize your current unit and a jet pack equipment upgrade card?

would you add jet packs to your trooper units?

Rather than extra plastic to glue to existing units and a card, how about a specialised jet-pack unit + an equipment card.

Maybe a Jumptrooper Spec-Ops Expansion that has Jump 2 like Boba and a "Jet-pack" equipment card which gives the equipped unit a Jump 1 action.

i'll bet it's already in the pipeline, i mean there are already jet troopers in Imperial Assault

*Reminisces about the start of a match everyone jet packing forward to get the first hero token...or anyone using one for whatever reason i Battlefront 2015*

I think a jetpack trooper expansion is entirely possible but I think it would be more like a special forces unit than a full Corps unit.

Honestly, Jumptroopers are one of the most interesting types of Stormtroopers in Star Wars for me.

My only concern is that they will use the Rebels model.

It's not bad, but I personally prefer the one early canon design from Star Wars: Commander;

Although, the current Star Wars: Battlefront 2 design does provide a best of both option for the game:

I prefer the Rebels version.

There are also Mandalorians for Rebels and Imperial Super commandoes (imperial mandalorians)

Personally I think I would hate to see such an expansion. A generic jet pack upgrade that I have to buy a separate box for, and then attach to a separate box of troopers that in all likelihood I've already put together and painted? No thanks. It would almost certainly be too much hassle and not enough value for me.

On the other hand, something like a Jumptrooper special forces expansion could be excellent. In that case, the jetpacks already on the models and the gameplay abilities already on the unit card, just like with Boba Fett. There'd be sufficient value in one box to justify the cost, and there would be a hard limit to the number of troopers zipping across the battlefield.

I mean, I could see a Jump-pack upgrade eventually, but yeah, no, it feels like it'd be way easier to do a SF or Corps unit with an inherent jump. Don't worry about balancing it intrinsically with rebels right away (after all, they've had native jump first! Look how long it's gonna take imps to get jump) they could easily get some other sort of mobility unit. Like, we have Jump vs Speeder, what if we had like, a temporary version of Unhindered or something - you only ignore difficult terrain (or downgrade difficult to open and impassible to difficult) for one move only?

Good discussion everyone!

I think you have all brought up some good points.

How yould you feel about packs that included things like imperial officers that use the personnel slot in a unit or generic heavy weapons figures.

I think it was mentioned in the learn to play book about adding medics and such

I actually think there's a valuable lesson to learn from EA Battlefront games there - in the first one, everyone could get a jump pack as an upgrade card, and the number of people who didn't use it once they had access was tiny, because it was fantastic, letting you position yourself in unexpected places with weapons perfect for ambush; in the second one, the jump trooper is a distinct unit accessed with Battle Points earned during the game and there can only be a small number of them active on either team at any given time, plus they come with a fixed weapon and ability loadout.

Allowing any unit the chance to become jump troopers would be a balancing nightmare, the latter approach is much better - distinct jump trooper units, with set abilities designed to work in concert with their ability without being overpowered.

Separate unit! Spec Ops!

Jump 1 or 2!

3-4 trooper units!

Cover 1

Some heavy blaster/long range cannon + a smaller more deadly close range pistol not unlike the scout troopers.
