First games reflection of a Rebel

By jocke01, in Star Wars: Legion

Played my first two "real" games in a small casual tournament today.

My list

Luke, mind trick + force reflexes

4x troopers with z-6

2x troops with extra trooper and grenade

2x at-rt with laser cannon

1 at-rt with flamer

I managed to go undefeated both games. Luke was the MVP using son of Skywalker to first kill veers before activating then mirror luke in the second game.

Lasers cannons worked wonders vs at-rt's, but didn't do much vs stormtroopers. Flamer was useful if nothing else for being a laser magnet. Difficult getting into flamer range without rolling on the dmg vehicle table. Rotary feels ok vs both armor and troops, but I rather go laser or flamer.

Offence seams to beat defence since a single hit still cause supression. Denying your opponent actions or activations is the key IMO.

Cover rules are a bit unclear with the combination of height, base contact, true line of sight and area terrain. Will maybe be better after som more games.

White dice are really really terrible unless you got re-rolls or surge or hopefully both.

Who gets to act first with the same pips turn 3 really decides games.

Nice Battlefield.

Single flamethrower atrt doesn't work: too easy to stall, you need to swarm if you use them. Single one just gets focus fired then becomes worthless.

And yeah, deciding on targets is a winner: suppression is the name of the game

Force pull helps with the flamethrower. Move the squad leader forward and then the squad members as far towards the flamethrower as possible- you only need one model in range and the rest in LoS.

People don't tend to fall for that twice though.

On the bright side, shots at your walkers aren't suppressing your troopers.
