Additional trooper upgrade, future?

It depends on how many they expect to sell...

Eithrr you have people whining that they need to buy 2 boxes for 4 figures, or people whining that they are spending half their purchase on a side they don’t use.

Easy Fix to the second issue:

A Rebel Medics box with 3 Rebel medics and an Imperial Medics box with 3 Imperial medics, with the same extra upgrades in both.

Slightly less easy fix for the first issue:

Make the extra upgrades desirable and the boxes relatively cheep. People shouldn't complain as much.

I personally think personnel and heavy upgrades won't stray from being limited for a specific unit, similarly with the heavy slot.It helps keep some unexpected combos from appearing.

I never understood why they needed a card and slot for this if every unit was only gonna have a single option for this, they could just as easily have stated two costs for the unit, one with X troopers and another with Y troopers.

FFG likes to do everything with cards. It's a bit weird but you get used to it.

From the Learn to Play booklet, page 22:

Personnel upgrade cards can be used to add specialists such as medics and engineers to units, or simply to bolster a unit’s ranks with an additional trooper miniature.

So at the very least we could expect to see medics and engineers as personnel upgrades. Obviously there's no telling how (or when) they'll become available though.

I would like to see faction specific packs that have both unit specific personnel (so have the same armour and weapons), and universal ones (most likely droids, but they prob wouldn't have access to the unit's weapons but would have a stronger support function, e.g. medical droid).

Wouldn’t be surprised if some of these specialists used up more than one upgrade slot, probably personnel and gear. Helps reduce the chance of broken combos in the future.

I suspect we'll eventually see some characters as personnel upgrades. Characters that don't make much sense as Commanders or Operatives, but do make sense as part of a squad.

FFG’s runeWars game has infantry command boxes for this purpose.

i could see FFG doing the same for Star Wars legion.

bundleing 4-7 unique personnel upgrades in a box.

medic, officer, coms, Veteran

I hope we do see something like this, and faction specific.

However, I think we'll see more full units first before they start releasing fillers like this.

Besides medics and engineers, per the play booklet, I expect to see other specialists as well, such as pathfinder (scout move), veteran - mentioned above (better or more attack dice), e-web heavy team (uses both heavy weapon and extra trooper slots)... there are a lot of options to add or reroll dice. Of course, the points costs would have to be adjusted depending on the trooper added.

I was thinking a three trooper pack, but could see single trooper pack, because someone may want three of a given trooper, but zero of a given trooper in the same pack. So I predict 1-3 trooper packs.
