SF Units 2 for 1?

By jcshep19, in Star Wars: Legion

So from what we can gather SO FAR, am I correct in that both Commandos and Scouts seem to include everything to field BOTH the SF team and the Specialty team simultaneously? I did notice the use of the word “or” in the new scout trooper article, but we all know FFG’s incredible track record for article accuracy.

But from what we know right now, it seems like from one box you could run

1x SF team w/ or w/o Heavy weapon

and

1x Strike Team (Heavy +1)

Really the only limitation I see is you couldn’t double up on the same heavy weapon, and the smaller strike team still eats up a SF slot for your platoon, but otherwise, that seems like a pretty cool value out of one box. Obviously subject to change as we learn more, but does this initial logic follow?

Yup. You get everything you need including two command tokens. Though as you say you can't field two of the same heavy weapon with one box.

I plan to get at least a second to field the full 3 specialist units.

The real question is are we going to get two strike team deployment cards.

Yes, the expansions have everything you need to field both units with the two different heavy weapons.

@Gorthaur25 do you mean the unit cards? If so then yes, there is one card for each unit type (you can see the second card under the main one in the product photo).

I meant two unit cards for the 1 scout plus heavy weapons "strike team". You would have the models to run to in one pack assuming you didn't run a regular team of course.

Thanks for clarifying :)

Ah, I hadn't considered that. In casual games you will prob be ok with just the one card. Not sure about organised play though.

I imagine in OP they will require you to have a unit card for every unit due to exhaustible upgrades etc. But I already just use one card for duplicate units when it is just me and my buddies playing at the local shop.

I may buy two copies of each announced special forces unit but I will just borrow cards for tournaments beyond that.

Yeah two packs seems to be the way to go, would give you a lot of flexibility to maximize the SF slots.
