We haven’t seen Solo yet! What’s to talk about?

I hope there’s a scene in Solo with them arguing about how crap this weird magic water ball opera they just watched was.

Extremely crap.

I rewatched it recently. I no longer think it's the worst Star Wars film, but it's still the second worst. My wife watched it along with me and agreed completely with just how terribly it's structured.

You’ve seen Solo twice already?!?

Nobody's interested in talking about Solo, get with the programme!

Rewatched TLJ recently. Not really as bad as some rabid fans make out.

Luke fading is still disappointing but I now see why they did it. Leia flying was interesting idea just executed badly. A few bits were on the nose - soldier tasting the salt etc and a bit too much exposition, something that the OT didn't try to explain. No problem with Holdo (but then again, didn't see a problem with her when I saw it on the big screen).

Lets just hope JJ tidies it all up and that Solo gives us some light relief from TLJ heavyness.

The rate things are going, the anthology movies are working out better than the new trilogy.

The studios only care that these films are good enough that people don't leave the cinema and tell everyone to stay at home and save their money. They don't care if they're good. They care that we pay to see them.

Got to agree with this take, so far Rogue One has been the undisputed highlight of Disney's cinematic efforts. Quite how they managed to utterly waste the potential of reuniting the original cast is beyond comprehension.

Let's face it, they're not missing much.

JJ is a hack. The studio was terrified that if they used any hint of Lucas's ideas the new movies would get prequel stains on them, and focus groups don't actually give you good information about what makes for a good story but what won't scare them away from going.

And if China will go see it, and they do not like the new face of star wars at all they think the actors are all ugly.

" These actors aren’t very beautiful, which may deter a lot of Chinese from seeing the recent films."

"We fans often joke that if Finn were played by Will Smith, Chinese people might be more inclined to watch it — because he’s very handsome."

Quotes taken from some site called the dork side, but I've heard the same sentiments from other sources.

I might have been a little less bored (or at least minded less that I was bored) by Rose's un-necessary and ultimately pointless sidequest if she'd been attractive.

God I never realized how hard it is for people to not whinge about the Last Jedi, it's like theyre physically incapable of restraining themselves from derailing other people's threads about other movies.

I think films like Solo and Rogue One are and will be in many ways fantastic because they essentially give tastes of life in the Star Wars galaxy.

They're the new equivalent to the major Expanded Universe novels such as Shadows if the Empire, only more exciting in some ways since they're fully realized on screen.

I think more then anything its the little things that add to the established universe I love to death. Such as Imperial Officers wearing great coats on Jedha or Krennic's white coat he wore on Eadu. We're so familliar with those uniforms its actually quite incredible to see something that fits perfectly but is entirely new and unexpected.

They look slick man lol

Rogue One is endlessly rewatchable for me because of all the minor detail lost in the background.

I have to agree. R1 gets better every time I watch it, and it was already up near the top for me right after the first time.

Oh, no kidding, the set and character design on Jedha was absolutely beautiful. Everyone talks about the Dr Evazan & Ponda Baba cameo, the Viper Probe droid etc, but all of the little details really fleshed the location out. The sheer variety and quality of practical effects and costumes on display was incredible, and the Edrio and Benthic Two Tubes are some of the most inspired alien character designs in the entire franchise.

FWIW The Force Awakens is the best Star Wars movie.

Rogue One might be #2, though, as it gave us Krennic.

How can a remake be the best movie?

Maybe because the original version will never be available in good quality BR and the special edition has its flaws

Because the original was very good and this did it better in almost every way?

Starkiller base was lame, but that's just a McGuffin. The storyboarding was perfect.
