This could be a knee jerk reaction to all the members that are saying they will quit and are leaving etc...

and FFG are like “hey guys look this is what your money is going to get you”

I think that their minds are made up. But them leaving means less chance of shortages upon release!

Pro-ordering most things is generally a bad idea. Especially when you don't even really know what comes in an update box. A nearly full reveal of the 3 update boxes would increase pre-orders by a factor of 3.

Or it could be a bait and switch kinda like the hyperspace report where everyone was thinking they were gong to cover all products. Maybe its a Solo reveal? Why wouldnt they put this off till closer to Gencon or at the con for that matter? Is it just to increase hype to fuel preorder sales?

The hyperspace report was not a bait and switch. FFG said upcoming star wars product. This is what they gave. Were they vague and people jumped to conclusions? Heck yes. But they never detailed what they would talk about.

True, but they should have clarified it was an X-Wing announcement to avoid false expectations.

That would have blown the cover on it I suspect.

So? Hype would have been high, speculation would have been wild, and non-xwing players wouldn't have been disappointed.

I think a lot of the more stubborn players might still come around once 2.0 is actually out and they see all the other kids having fun with the new toys. Unless, of course, 2.0 still somehow manages to be a failure that even their built-in future-proofing can't fix, in which case everyone will just be sad.

I certainly don't blame anyone for being on the fence until it's out, so long as they don't feel the need to constantly shout it from the rooftops.

Bumping this as a PSA.

The internet is going to blow up.

It's kind of a big deal.

Bump

Honestly I don’t know how there aren’t more people freaking out and discussing it in this thread.

I think we've just been too preoccupied with freaking out in every other thread.

Essentially, X-Wing is ending and being replaced by 2.0. They need to build up massive hype to keep current players excited rather than dreading the new releases.

I'm really hoping the unboxing will begin to make things right.

But the whole time, I'm gonna be like: But how many points? How many points is that worth? And that? What upgrades does that ship take? How much is Dengar worth? And the title. But how many squad points is it!! Seriously, showing me all the cards and none of the point costs is going to kill me a little bit.

Will be more than happy if

1.) Arcs are swell/get reinforce (need it v jousters)

If spray gets red reinforce, whole boost

Arc gets white reinforce, red roll

2.) Ks fill the niche left by Nym/res bombers (bomb launcher, also necessary v jousters) instead of just being... Miranda

2.) Punisher is good and also a native bomb launcher

Unboxing is kinda useless. No idea on points costs and no ideas on ship slots because of idiotic 'App only' requirements. Sad.

I wouldn't say useless. I'm hoping to see how dials and pilot abilities have been updated, how some of the cardboard is divided up, and see what characters got in or got pushed out. I get some of those, and it will be well worth it for me.

It's not app only, there will be a website and a downloadable PDF. Stop lying to people.

The unboxing showes what's in the box and what you get for the cost of that box, quashing a ton of rummors and misinformation. It's not meant to be a 100% reveal.

Agreed. We might not be able to build full lists, but more info on all of this info will be nice. I have plenty of ships/pilots that I want to see if/how they make it into 2e.

also gets a glimpse as to what your favorite ships may look like

point costs are up in the are, but changing the actual card abilities/stats are hugely undesirable as they defeat the purpose of the app in the first place (also the designers said they wouldn't want to do that)

We should also get a look at some quick build cards, so the threat level will give us a pretty reasonable idea of point costs.

Ah, forgot about those. Seeing what is in those quick builds will also give us some indication of slots as well.

Once we have all the card and dial info revealed in the unboxings, can’t we just all pitch in a dollar to pay for @MajorJuggler’s time to give us the MOST correct values of everything?

?

"Join Us for a Closer Look at Your Favorite Star Wars Products"

Now if they said something along the lines of a "New Product Line" that would be mysterious and hype it up since Xwing 2.0 is essentially a new product line.

I am extremely pleased we'll be learning about the exact contents of at least one of these boxes before I have to lock in my preorder.

... the preorders will still be open, right? (As I'm hit with a sudden wave of paranoia...)
