@Cremate what were the odds of you being able to pull off Fell Swoop for your first attack? I'm guessing less than 50% of the time vs. a black or a white? Did you mitigate that by Focusing Davith?

Its better than that. Vs a black die youve got a 80+% chance of getting fellswoop unless theyve got built in evade and can weaken you somehow

Yes, Focus was the "nurture" he depended on. Hera can also help, as can Blitz, cards that remove the defense die and his initial Hidden. Nowadays he'll also be helped a lot by surge power tokens.

Even so, lacking an inherent reroll, sometimes he just rolled a whole lot of damage not getting the surges you so desperately wanted.

Played 3 games with Davith, all on Uscru
Game 1 - Urgency, move through an elite Riot on his last HP, remain movement places me next to the other elite Riot - was focused, got 2 attacks off and killed him. Never got his card.

Game 2 - Mission B, first turn place him on the 2 middle boxes uncontested, score 4 pts, take shots from 2 elite Jets and survived, ran up to Agent Blaise and dealt a total of 7 damage out of 8 HP. Again didn't draw his card...

Game 3 - Force choked by Vader end of round on turn 1, Hide in Plain Sight for a full turn, start of turn 3 he gets hit and has 3 hp remaining but I finally got his card and played it right after Vader attacked me and I rolled the [X]. Got 2 attacks off on Vader and managed to get a good deal of damage through.

Very fun to play, Hunters could more easily dispatch him but if they spend their hunter cards on your 6 pt guy, thats fine in my book.

Also if you're on survival mode: Vanish + Change of Plans, kind of like Maul being immune to dying (:

That's awesome man! I've been wondering why you don't see him played very often, but I think your test shows he's not bad, especially for 6 points.

I think its all about the other threats in your list. I had Han and Ahsoka plus the usual support - so I filled up on Spy cards, some smuggler cards for Hera & Han, and 2 Force User cards for some delicious shenanigans (Forge Surge and Force Push)

I'm definitely going to face a bunch of IG lists this week cause everyone in my area saw the finals, some of us want to try to break the IG meta - mainly with spies. Destroying an IG player's hand before he can spend it is quite delectable. So for now I'm testing things, this variant so far I'm having the most fun with.

I did that with a Blaise list before Vader came out. I cross trained 2 sets of ejets. It's pretty effective.

Hello, all.

I took Davith Elso to the Final 4 of Gencon/North American Championships last year.

I ran the following list:

  • Davith Elso
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Luke Skywalker, Hero of the Rebellion
  • Leia Organa
  • C-3PO
  • R2-D2
  • Gideon Argus w/ Diplomatic Mission

As has been mentioned before, Davith relies on being Hidden and/or Focused to maximize his potential. If you're running him, then his "Vanish" is essential. That card is just amazing when it comes to capturing an objective, or setting Davith up to wreak havoc on your enemy's back line. If I drew this card early, then I would be very aggressive with him, hoping he would draw just enough fire to protect my other figures without dying himself, before I could Vanish when he needed to. I cannot overstate how great that card was, at least in the meta back then. I'm sure it's still really good, especially with so much offensive potential some teams can field.

I used Obi-Wan as the vanguard, slow moving, but hard-hitting and hard to kill. Davith would flank whatever the opponent used to counter Obi-Wan, and hopefully I could outmaneuver them while using the Twins to add significant damage from midrange.

If anyone has any questions for me, I'd be happy to answer them. Without being cocky, I've maybe taken Davith farther than any other in competitive play? I haven't used him in awhile but he was great back then.

Correction, this was Gencon 2016. Still happened though.

My guess is we see a lot more of Davith after Tyrants makes Rebel Force Users a more reasonable archetype. I'd rather spend 6 on Davith than 3 on Mak as a spy, if I have other card support that synergizes with my figures!

Looking at Maul (7 pts - which is BTW out of the meta) Davith should be G-G-Y to be comparable (hence out of the meta)

Davith can pull off 2 attacks and get pierce 3 on each which will likely result in more damage - the surges being aided by his Hide status. Even without focus support, he can put quite the dent on things.

he's maybe a tiny bit overcosted as all bespin figures are, but you have to take into account the free Hidden at the beginning of the game. I think Vinto should have a free Hide or power token now that those are available as he needs support to get the ball rolling as well and the main difference between blue and yellow is the amount of accuracy versus surges. Davith should probably be 5 points, adding a green may be too much especially in context. Maybe a blatant +1 damage or a token would tide him over. He doesn't ever blank, he just doesn't deal well if you get your surge blocked. Pierce 3 is pretty potent and you can still Fail Swoop even if you don't do damage.

G-Y with those surge abilities can consistently do 2 damage (94%) to a black die, if hidden 3 damage (75%) otherwise probability drops considerably (39%). Maximum possible is 4 damages (31% if hidden otherwise 10%). With such a damage you can barely kill a rStorm, I would consider him viable if he could attack at least 3 times per round without spending surge.

I love using Davith, usually alongside Ahsoka as they are both Spies and Force Users. Everything Rogue Dakotan has said I've found to be true and useful when I play him, and I will say he really relies on command cards, especially Vanish, Hide in Plain Sight and Deflection, so you want to make sure you are maximizing your command card draw power. This may have been mentioned already, but keep in mind that unlike Hide in Plain Sight, Vanish works until Davith's next activation, so if he uses at the start of a round and then activates at the end of the next, he can effectively be invulnerable for 2 rounds!

Point of advice, make sure Davith is focused so that you are guaranteed to pull off that Fell Swoop, it's a huge part of what makes him worth his points. He is really great at cleaning up damaged figures, I've killed 3 figures in one activation with him on more than one occasion.
