So will we get new missions in the new core set? Or updated ones?
How would you update classic missions to 2.0, like Political Escort or Dagobah Dave's Trench Run?

...Or will missions be put in the new App? Or will there be Organized Play events with Missions?
Dagobah Dave's missions work fine with 2.0, though.
New missions and ways to play X-wing would be such a nice addition to 2.0.
Just double the points in the old missions, done.
Perhaps they will bless us with the gift of a $30 mission conversion kit.
Personally, I think FFG will make a HotAC type game. Well, at least an AI for ships.
And then the bad players will have a wonderful place to retreat where they think they can finally win against all those WAAC tournament players.

Actually, stringing together the old missions as the basis for a campaign would be super easy.

This is pretty insulting. One can take that as all casual players are bad. I can also see that some people play X-wing as one of many games and just don't keep up with the game like WAAC players do. To call them bad when they just don't follow the game as closely is insulting.
Are you trying to be rude? You are basically coming into a decent thread and dropping a turd.
I remember people saying that the entire tension between tournament players and casuals was created by "militant casuals" who instigate the entire conflict. Personally, I've seen a lot more insulting comments like this from tournament players than the other way around.

I also play X-wing as one of many games and I don't say things as dumb as some of the casual/mission crowd does. I don't mind casual players, but I do get a good laugh out of people saying "well, if you.. played missions, the rookie pilot with proton torps would suddenly be good"

We obviously disagree on things as there are definitely situations where a Rookie with Proton Torpedo are a good option. Maybe not a lot, but there are some.
Still, your comment can be considered pretty hostile.

Your posting history says that on occasion, you say some pretty dumb things.
I’m a crap player but there’s nothing stopping me from playing in tournaments despite sucking. I just don’t have enough time and money to go around and chase the tourney season. Also I prefer to switch things up compared to old 100/6 (soon to be 200/6).
and I’m sure a torp rookie could be a decent choice in some pocket case, but certainly not tourney worthy. I can think of many many more efficient ways to spend 25 points in 1.0 though.

In some cases that will work, but you'll have to use the "old" evade mechanic on some of the escort missions. I think if FFG can control themselves and not re-introduce the high accuracy weapons (TLT, 4 Red Dice attacks, etc) most of the missions should scale very well.

I just don't see them expending the effort. To date they've not shown any real interest and it's one more thing they'd have to take into consideration when balancing. My hope is that I'm proven wrong and this can be thrown in my face repeatedly.

FFG has spent time and money to make apps for some of their board games to be played solo (or without a GM). It would be a continued trend for them in that direction. The reason it hasn't been done for Xwing has been due to them knowing a new version is coming out.
I definitely could be wrong.

Considering the devs passed up the opportunity to buy HotAC, citing for the guy that created it to "maintain control", I don't thing they will do this.
*sigh*
I miss the days when the phrase “Fly casual” was a good thing on these forums, and when it had nothing to do with whether or not you were playing in a high-level tournament or playing with some buddies on your kitchen table, and when it had everything to do with your attitude and how you treated other players.
And from what I observed, it wasn’t the casual crowd that were behind the rift between casual/competitive players, it was a couple of “competitive” players (and one in particular who has since been banned from these forums-you know who I’m talking about) who complained loudly about the “Fly casual” attitude getting in the way of their desire to WAAC.
Maybe with 2.0 coming out we can let go of the competitive vs casual mindset and remember that we’re all just a bunch of guys pushing plastic spaceships around on a table and making pew pew noises, and that your opponent across the table from you isn’t your enemy , he’s a friend who enjoys the same hobby you do, and this has nothing to do with how competitive the setting is. That would be neat if we could pull that off.
Fly casual my friends.

The creator of HotAC has stated on his HotAC FB page that he thinks FFG will have some sort if AI by the time GenCon 2019 comes around.

AI rules could be part of the app. They did it for Imperial Assault after all.

I hope so! I particularly think it's possible if FFG lives up to their statements of themed events. I used to love tournaments. I also love themed stuff. I love something other than 100/6 sometimes. I think early v2 is going to be great as everything is new and there is no meta. I hope it continues for a while into the next version.

That would be cool, especially if it can play missions, and is 1.0 compatible. (I can never find a player to do do missions with.) I have never played HotAC, but I have heard it is fun.

Personally, I don't seem them doing anything for 1.0. It's a dead end for them.
Thankfully, though, it's pretty much already done for 1.0! Almost all Imp ships have an effective AI system. Other fans have made their own Rebel and Scum AI, but I haven't tested it. There are even apps that do it for you. On Android there is an app called "X-wing AI - Heroes if the Aturi Cluster". It has AI for all ships.
If you haven't tried HotAC, I highly recommend it. My favorite way to play the game. I just played it last night. Even try it with 2 people. Can't do that? Play with you flying 2 ships! It's crazy fun and really challenging. The missions and AI are good. Upgrading pilots and ships is very fun. I finally got to PS 9 and took Wedge's ability. I can't stress how great it is enough. The first mission is super to try as it's regular table vs basic ships. Don't even have to print much out. Just learn the rules.

It'll be more complicated than that. A lot of the fundamental changes to the game will impact missions in a variety of ways.
the basic rules language of the game has changed; missions will have to be rewritten from the ground up to accomodate that. Tons of upgrades and pilots have undergone name changes and more importantly functional changes, meaning that scenarios that include specific pilots and upgrades will need to be updated.
missions will also probably need to be rebalanced in the face of fundamental changes in the game dynamics, which might include changes to the average attack or defense capability of ships.
It'll take a bit of work to convert 1st edition missions to second edition the right way

Missions are definitely getting some love. I remember seeing a random hyperspace jump marker where by you get to choose where your ship enters play but then a dice roll determines it's direction.
Also, the rules have changed in that you can now "lock" on to anything. Enemy ship, friendly ship, obstacles. . . this could lead to a few things such as shooting persistent mines to locking on to an exhaust port. .
Plus, the quick play cards could also be used in combination with certain missions, forcing certain builds or squads. Additionally, they could even go as far as to change the points for ships or pilots in certain missions!
An interesting mechanic for sure and one I hope they really explore.
