By AngoraDemon, in Painting

Hi, I'm Josh. I run a commission painting service and youtube channel called "Masterpiece Miniatures". This is my army!

This army took my a solid 80+ hours to complete. Including painting and writing the lore. Please check the links below for the story behind the models as well as high res Photos. Let's keep the hobby alive!

Alrik's AT-ST: This model was kit bashed from a variety of kits.

  1. A scout trooper was cut up and modified with greenstuff for a feminine look. I cut off the arms, head, neck, back and chest. Then I remodeled all of them including a "wookie skin" cloak. I also cut off

  2. A statuesque miniatures heroic scale head was used for the head.

  3. I bought some katana from shapeways, cut the handles off the scout trooper hands and drilled holes through them so they could be modeled to hold/clean the blade.

  4. A few tank stowage kits were ordered to give the AT-ST a survivalist feel.

  5. A WW2 1/35 scale Sherman Tank was purchased and used to create the modified hatch, "50. Cal" Laser Gun and barricade.

Wow!

Nice. I love a really well done themed army.

Man, this is really cool and it isn’t surprising to hear you spent that much time working it up. The modified ATST is top notch and provides a very different sort of mood than the standard. I also really like the style you have used in your troopers. I have to admit, I don’t care for it as much on Vader. I don’t want to seem critical - especially since I couldn’t come close to this even if I tried. But I do kind of think if you are going to paint so many highlights then you should ditch the gloss varnish. The painted highlights look kind of awkward and compete with the real highlights reflecting off the gloss.

Regardless, it’s a pretty incredible army.

I hear ya. I typicallly don't do OSL. This was the first model I ever tried it on. Normally I will just go for typical raised surface highlights (because it's easy and it looks good). I used a satin varnish on the whole army. It looks a little glossy under the extreme light I was using to take photos.

and she is wearing wookie fur haha. well done. very stunning.

That is an awesome concept, and the execution is flawless! I love it!
