Is anyone finding more wins from Reb swarms?
More wins for Reb swarms?
6 Troopers + 3 AT-RT is bringing me lots of joy. Seems the optimal build.

T47 not efficient enough?

There's a whole argument aroudn the whole Airspeeder: Good or not, but let's be honest, a list with 6 troopers is great at going for objectives, and with 1 commander, 6 troopers, 3 support, it's very easy to do what you want to do when you wan to do it even with random orders pulled from the bag, while if you put commandos/airspeeders in the mix, you are less orders-efficient.
The poor T47 just isn't worth it for either taking objectives or surviving.
Rotary on all the ATRT = loads of fire power, plus who needs anti armour? #ignoretheAT-ST
The thing is having 10 units (1 leader, 3 AT-RT, 6 troopers) just makes handling victory conditions so much easier, and in the end that's the crux of the game.
Ok... so I have to buy and paints 2 more units of troopers /sigh

Just use fleet troopers?
Reckon there's a cheaper (in dollars) option by going two commander with Leia (ie. Luke, Leia, 4 x z-6 squads, 3 x ATRT). Probably not quite as good in some ways, but Leia makes those squads go further, and you get some really good tactical options with her cards. It's a bit of a cautious list in the early turns, but it works pretty good IMO.
I'm in the ATRT lascannon camp myself. Not as good as the rotaries for lots of things, sure, but range 4 makes a big difference, and they mulch opposing ATRTs.

You might want to hang on to the airspeeder until you have options. Fleet troopers could be pretty useful with their cover ignoring launcher and the commandos, while more expensive, don't need babysitting by a commander to avoid panic and can still claim out of the way objectives.
I just won my first mission for Operation Hail with the following list:
Luke - Battle Med, Mind Trick, Scopes
3x Rebel trooper - Z6, Scopes, Trooper, Impact Grenades
2x Rebel trooper - Z6, Scopes, Trooper, Concussion Grenades
2x AT-RT - Comms Jammer, Rotary
796
I was doing 3 AT-RT for a while, but I decided to go quality over quantity, and it worked for the most part. All the grenades were useless, with the exception of the 1 Impact attack that killed a flamer AT-RT with a single volley. Comms Jammer was also useless since my AT-RTs never got into distance 1. 6 Scopes was useful, but I'm not sure if I'd want to keep them because it encourages you to hunker down, where as grenades want to you move closer.
I definitely think the Rebel Horde is the way to win right now.
Rebel Horde is definitely the hardest Rebel list to play right now.
Airspeeder can get brought down by too many Imperial units. DLTs and Speeder Bikes can bring it down in a turn or two. An AT-ST in the mix hurts it a lot as well.
I think 1 or 2 units of Fleet Troopers will be impactful - if you can get them into position they are incredibly dangerous. I might consider 4x Trooper 2x Fleet, but I also don't play Rebels.
Once leia is out, I intend to run this list:
Leia - Esteemed leader
1x Fleet troopers - Scatter, additional, scopes, concussion nades
1x Rebel troopers - Z-6, additional trooper
3x Rebel troopers - Z-6, additional trooper, concussion nades
1x Rebel troopers - Additional trooper
3x AT-RT - Laser canon
or
Leia - Esteemed leader
1x Fleet troopers - Scatter, additional, scopes, concussion nades
3x Rebel troopers - Z-6, additional trooper, Concussion nades
2x Rebel troopers - Z-6, additional trooper
3x AT-RT - Flamethrower

The fleet troopers definitely look interesting.
Right now I just have 4 rebel troopers. I have a T-47 holding down a spot for future fleet troopers and commandos. I could definitely see future rebel lists being very trooper heavy.

I've got the same plan with the T47, just a points placeholder for now.

It’s a shame, it was such a fun model to paint.

Yeah, I'm really hoping it either becomes viable down the road or FFG does some kind of refit to make it better. It's the centerpiece of the rebel army right now (on the table, just in terms of size), and it looks so good.
I actually intend to buy a second airspeeder, not to play it but to actually paint it properly this time...
I thoroughly enjoy the Airspeeder, it's just too expensive for what it does currently.
A guy at our local store won an 11 person tourney with Luke, 5 troopers, 2 ATRT Lasers and T47.
Faced alot of Empire

Which is similar to what I'm doing at the moment with a deal for ATRT flames for one of the lasers , I found the airspeeder a bit clunky on my first battle with it, you can't just sit it out there like an AT ST but it works quite well. Just watch where your opponent sits their counters for it and either avoid or take them out in other ways, or five them target anxiety, run at an Ion unit with the airspeeder and an ATRT flamer if they ignore the flamer to begin with just run away after the first shot and get into range 1 , the airspeeder is great for spreading suppression which hurts the HH and Ion units as they can shoot or recover not both.
Edit for the record in running only a slightly modified version of the army posted in the army building preview which actually goes against the idea of adding a rebel trooper to spec weapons units, I find the extra figure is often a waste, so I run 4 units of 5 troopers, 1 z6, 1 ion, 1 w/trooper and concussion and another with trooper and impact. Last game was a solid win against Veers , ATST, 5 trooper units all relatively fully upgraded 3 storms with hh/2 DLT and 2 snow with T7 and flamethrower and a set of bikes
Edited by syrathI really don’t want 42 rebel troopers. The fact that it’s so good is bad news to me.

I think that it's common enough for rebels for 2 reasons
1/ troopers can score objectives,
2/ blunt force is the imperial way I find it takes a bit of thought to play the rebels Not that it doesn't take thought to play imperials, id say it's easier to get punished more for mistakes as rebels. So more units means that you can hold out longer and have a reasonable chance of surviving until round 6, the fact it's an objective game. I've always played against equal or more units of Corp units and I've won exactly 50%
Boba Fett may change the value of swarms of corps units.
He can get anywhere and saves 2/3 of hits.
His own attacks ignore cover.
He can shoot 2 targets per turn at range 2.
It's the mobility which is a killer. He's obviously good for hunting down characters, but he's also going to be loading suppression on multiple troop units which is crippling if he achieves his mission. With a swarm army, if you lose your commander you're very vulnerable to panic and that's without someone using Vader's Master of Evil.
