Oh I'm quite aware, that's why the X-wing and B-Wing are stupid and the TIE Fighter is great. But compared to the original e-wing, anything is an improvement.
I personally really like the E-Wing, ever since I saw it in the Essential Guide to Vehicles books.

Yea, it always sort of felt like they made it to be a superior fight craft that would be able to fit either the role the general or interceptor roles in combat. I have to wonder to some extent if the reason they had it be an over complicated mess just to keep the X-Wing relevant since it is iconic and to maintain a Star Warsy feel.
Really hated the gun over the canopy, so changed it to two under the wings.

I've said a few times that the E-Wing is the Star Wars F-35. Plauged with design problems, over engineered, and neither as good a generalist as it needs to be nor as good a specialist as one would need...
Funny that folks complain about the gun above the E-wings canopy, but have no problem with the same stupid arrangement on the gunbloat.
I am still waiting for an Ewing on clearance sale (missed the last with one day) or second hand, would just take to the razorblade and glue, to move the cannon forward to the nose. But with 2.0 on the horizon I will rather wait a bit more.
My issue with the e-wing cannon isn't due to blinding the pilot or anything. It is the design of the top cannon that breaks apart it makes it so easy for something to fail. It bothers me.
The engines look like they can be sheared off the wing at any time. We go back to comic art and these so called new fighters look covered in rust.
All in all, the e-wing looks like a deathtrap.

Well, I want a new E-wing sculpt. Not because the current one is bad, mostly because the other ones are so much better.
And I don't see any problem with the appearance of the top cannon, in fact, I quite like it. It doesn't matter so much that it is a daft place for a cannon - in terms of how you get into the cabin - so long as there is some explanation for it, and there is. The E-wing was incredibly over-engineered, and lots of mechanically silly things got into it because of that. Besides that, there are so many other star wars vehicles with similar weapon arrangements that it is silly to say it would blind the pilot. However, It clearly isn't a design feature everyone is fond of, all the people in my group of Xwingers (except me) dislike the top cannon.
I prefer the sleeker version myself, but it’s not like I care enough to buy new ones if it’s re done.

Okay... how about this then; the e-wing looks so generic and bland that it belongs in Turkish Star Wars (The man who saves the world) rather than ACTUAL Star Wars.

Only in regards to the Aetherpsrite and the ARC 170. I’m sure you already know which one the ARC 170 is (you’re welcome everybody), the Aetheraprite is that gorgeous triangular one on the left of the picture. And surely you know the N1 because everyone goes on about it, even though it’s far from the best looking ship in the prequels?
