So we have a Radical's Handbook, and now we have Ascension as well.

Is there going to be a Puritan's Handbook? I would have thought that would have been the next logical expansion. Either that or a sourcebook for more specific info on the primary Ordos (Malleus, Hereticus and Xenos) for more specific Ascension level play.

Anyone heard anything?

One can surely hope. There was a short length web suplement for the old Inquisitor game called "Thorian Handbook" that detailed.... you guessed it... The Thorian faction within the Inquisition. I would cheerfully shell out some more cash for a well thought out and reasonably packed full of goodies book that counterparts the Radical's Handbook. Considering Amalthans are the predominant faction within Inquisitorial ranks it only stands to reason.

yeah, although this kind of thread keeps arising i truly hope to have a Puritans Handbook, and then for those inquisitors in the middle...few though they probably are but still id like to hear about inquisitors that are honestly only after accomplishing their jobs, not after a deeper goal of some sort

I've thought about this myself, but I have to ask... apart from describing the Puritan factions, what would be the crunch of the book? Radicals have daemon weapons, xeno artifacts, warpish sorceries and all that stuff. Puritans... well, how many kinds of flamers can you describe in a book? There's one simple counterpart to sorcery: Pure Faith. It's already been described in the Inquisitor's Handbook, which leads me to the next point. I think the IH could be viewed as a Puritan's Handbook, considering it holds the Soritas, Pure Faith, Holy Weapons and a description of the Imperial faith.

I assumed that the threat rating Obscuro Minima/Maioris/... just referred to "wo don't know what the heck we should classify it as, but TAKE CARE OF IT!".

Well the core book refers to "Other ordos" i would like to think there are some eccentric inquisitors out there who have taken it upon themselves to try and explain the whole what/why/where of anything that qualifies as obscuro.

But hey i like the weird stuff like that.

I think that FFG could probably come up with enough things to fill a Puritan Sourcebook (Inquisitors, New Resources, Grey Knights, Alternate Career Ranks, some neat equipment, an adventure, etc.), but I also do not think it is as useful as a radical's handbook was bound to be.

Also strictly looking at the numbers, FFG might not want to work on a Puritan's Handbook because it seems most players are radical.

I'm very much into Mechanicus fluff and I couldn't be more happy if FFG would publish a sourcebook on them covering the Calixis Mechanicus itself, pure cults (like Sollex) and heretek cults, equipment, more cybernetics, servitors, weapons (normal and exotic ones like in IH), their contacts with other 'classes' (like we have Reclamaitors) and so on. But I know this is merely a dream that will never come true, so actually nevermind.

As for the Puritan's Handbook, I doubt there can be anything of much interest beside factions themselves and some additional holy weapons. As others, I think that IH in some way covers material for Puritan Inquisitor.

I think our biggest heresy was wearing xeno mesh armor (from the core rulebook).

What could/should be in hypothetical Puritan´s Handbook? Well, even paraphrasing Radical´s Handbook would be enough:

- new puritan Origins (for example Drusus Bloodline as Noble Specific Origin)

- new puritan backround packages (Pilgrim and Touched by Saints as general ones, Duty and Faith for Guardsman, Abbey of the Dawn for Adepta Soritas...)

- new puritan alternate career ranks (Sister Repentia, Sister Pronatus, Sister (christ again...) Sabine, Exorcist, Pentinent Witch, Witch-smeller, Flesh-smith, Investigator of Collegia Exterminatus...)

- puritan elite advances (Blessed One, Sworn Puritan...)

- detailed backround on Puritan Factions and of course, new wonderful Puritan Minoris

- Burning War (equipment, alternate skill and talent use, resources, contacts and psyker powers for more "open" Inquistion operations as rebellion-breaking, public trials, open investigation...)

- Power of Faith (extented Faith rules, psychic powers as miracles, rites of purity, holy weapons and relics, maybe saints and living saints)

- Purity in Machine (rigid and "puritan" Mechanicus factions, mysterious AM-"Inquisition" named Collegia Exterminatus, Cult of Sollex details, holiness of technology and its examples)

-Puritan Campaign (or how to make playing "by book" fun)

-Famous Puritans (Lord Inquisitor Caidin, Witch-hunter Rykehuss...)
