Look, it's straightforward. The Tie Advanced PROTOTYPE was broken up into two ships. Armor plating, the missile launcher, and sensors were stripped to make rooms for more guns and better engines on the mass produced Tie Interceptor, while the production model Tie Advanced x1 added more armor plating and beefed up the targeting computer to make the ship a better superiority fighter at the cost of some maneuverability.
